Liverpool (A) Post Match Thread

Thiago has totally thrown what that team was all about.. and they haven’t realised this yet. Fantastic.
Totally agree. I am so glad we weren't seriously in for him. I can't see what he offers them at all. He slows their game and kills it! I hope he finishes his career there! :)

Pure vanity project, same as Alisson trying to pass it out from the back today. Was pure ‘we can play the ball just as well as City/Ederson’ well no you can’t, stick to your one dimensional Stoke tactics you dicks.
The only time they looked half dangerous was when they punted it forward into space. It's all they know!!

We have heard commentators wax lyrical about the sound Thiago's foot makes when he kicks a football but not much said about the sound it made kicking Gundo.

Proper weird first half. We barely gave them a touch until the Mane chance then they kept it until we got the penalty. We dealt with their press pretty well without pressing too much ourselves. Rodri is so important to us as the outlet but I think having Stones in defence is helping his game because it means opposition midfield can't just target him. Defensively he's much more improved and you don't often see players just running past him like you used to.

Raz had more space than I've seen in ages and caused Liverpool a lot of problems. Zinch had a great game basically Salah had one good moment in the entire game which still relied on a Diaz mistake to capitalize on. At that moment I feared we'd go on to lose but I'm clearly stupid.

Mahrez coming off won us the game. He has a ridiculous amount of ability. His first touch is poetry but he doesn't impact the game as much as he should. Allison is going to get criticised but the pressing positions we took up to win the ball back from him was fantastic. In 95% of games those passes find a Liverpool player but Foden in particular wins us the ball for the first cock up as impressively as a thundering tackle.

Foden is the real deal. He has a nimbleness and agility unlike any other player I can think of. His feet are so fast but his brain is quicker. You cant not enjoy watching him play

Wasn't great in the 1st half & definitely our midfield trio & fwds were probably nervy if i can say that, just needed to settle down

So glad he moved Phil in 2nd half it was so much better I felt for him in the 1st 45

Wow did it change though, just imagine if we could take penalty it has to be Eddys go next surely?

Keep it going now no giving up, could be a favourite title winning season for me

Even better if by hook or crook Everton apart from our game pinch 4th spot

Absolutely.
Besides the win, loads of positives for the future.
I wanted Fern on too. But mainly so we could push Gundo forward.
I was calling for Sterling to go off for him but Mahrez would have been better in hindsight, because sticking Foden out right with Gundo in the middle was key.

What Pep did was essentially better (since it worked). Jesus in the centre was always going to hassle the centre of their defence and Gundo behind him ideal. The fact that Rodri kept control of defensive side in the midfield is a huge bonus for us for the future. He is still learning his role there and is looking quite smooth at the moment.
I was hoping Pep would flip Sterling and Foden, Take off Mahrez, bring on Jesus and play Bernardo on the right, so similar vane of thought.

Mainly because Foden has the the legs to get to get up and down and could help out Zinchenko, when all sterling was doing was going on a run and losing the ball.

As it turned out I was wrong and Sterling won us a pen albeit not converted but
Pep will keep him grounded.
His interview about him was perfect.
Basically talked about how he wasn’t doing his job in the first half. He’s capable but doesn’t understand the position yet. He’s young. He will learn.

Pep has managed him very well despite those claiming he was holding him back at times. Media? What do they know?
I've heard this a few times tonight. But weren't they top just before Christmas without any crowds? The fall-off in their form is to do with other factors I think.
Don't fall for that shite, at KO they might be loud but when they're under the cosh they're silent as a mouse, they only sing when they're winning.

an absolute masterplan from pep,let them have a bit of play first half, gives them belief and 2nd half turn the screw, Sterling was fantastic down the left often draging 4 players out of position,Foden what can i say, maybe give him a more continental name Philipo fodeno, the errors from their keeper were just not errors,we put them under presure to make them

Soz Bert, I meant to reply to the person u were replying to.

I’m a bit concerned that Pep has been sussed out by the brilliant managerial minds of the premier league and his style of football has become outdated.
Yes, it seems that way from our league position, the fact we are still in all the domestic cups, pissed the CL group and the last 14 results. Pep out.

I would like to see fodens goal from behind the net at normal speed, Anyone got that please

Maybe not right behind the net but sky have been doing 15 minute programmes here and there where they show highlights of a game from one camera by the side of one net. I'd expect them to do one for this, and they're really good cos u see and hear the players close up. Would love to see one for this game
