Leicester's press negated Silva and we would have been better off with Yaya alongside Fernando for that game. Liverpool will try to start like Leicester did against us.
Leicester's press didn't negate Silva in the slightest. We didn't lose because of a press at all. Quite the opposite. They sat back and put two long balls in for the first and third. The second was from a throw in when we fell asleep.

I was there mate and Silva was non-existent. Leicester's physicality was a big factor linkedntontheir high temp pressing. Yes they played the long ball
and our midfield wasn't in the game until half-time.

I hope Kun has been on a strict fitness & conditioning regime while he's been away.

He's looked sluggish & heavy for 18 months now - there I've gone & said it - and a bit mentaly dull. He's missed chances this year that he'd have scored with his eyes shut 2/3 years ago.

IMHO he's not the player he was,he looks troubled & tempermentaly fragile. Pep is challenging him in a way he doesn't like & it shows.

Come back the 'old'Kun,we're goina need you.

What's the situation re Sane ?

He is ideal to get at them, even as a sub, if he can keep his nerve.

Also, about time Serge pulled his thumb out of his arse. Usually, we need to score a few to win there. Well he is the best around & he's fresh as a daisy & their defenders are at least as bad as ours, probably worse. He would tear ours a new arsehole if he was playing for them & we would be shitting our pants now at the prospect of him coming back.

So do it for us, instead, game over.

Hopefully Liverpool will be without Coutinho. I'm feeling quite confident really, they're a good side, but player for player we're much stronger.

we know the high press is coming and coming big, what has pep got in his locker to combat this.

has yaya got the legs for this game, sergio should be back i expect

such is our record at klanfield i'll take a draw right now

Play the same way we did in the cup final last year and we will win. One of the key players that day was navas and I suspect he will play again

when in Rome and all that

we should use the long ball over the top with sterling pace and hit them on the break
but for me its down to the ref will he buckle under the pressure of the liverpool fans give them just about everything even the toss fans will be wanting it

its going to be boo boo boo for 90mins and god help sterling if he dare score

Anfnour nidfieldmwasnt in the game until half-time.
That last paragraph is sheer poetry mate (i seem to recall the former poet laureate Ted Hughes invented a special language for a play that was presented in Iran).
For the record I think that as usual the dippers will own us in this fixture.

We the fans know the high press is coming, but does Pep?
After the Leicester fiasco when our formation and tactics played straight into their hands I'm not so sure.

Two down after a few minutes, all of our midfield players were chasing the game, trying to force passes through the eye of a needle. I just dont think that there are many lessons to learn about our build up play from that game.

I wouldnt start Yaya at Liverpool. 2nd game in less than a week, he will be targeted by Klopp. Sterling and either Sane or Navas on the flanks.

Its going to be a great game to watch. There will be a lot of takeaways from the game. Normally I don't expect anything out a Pool game and with this being away we might just not get anything.

Let's not piss around at the back, play long diagonals over their full backs and if it doesn't stay in play it doesn't matter. Bit like rugby when you kick for the corners and push the opposition right back. Win the ball back high up the pitch and press them back. Use the pace of Raheem and either Sane or Navas and match their work rate. Do this and three points will be coming our way.

Haha I thought I'd throw in a bit of language free styling. I'm stil coming round after the trip to Hull lol.

I would live with a point at Anfield as long as we can beat Burnley at home.

You might well be right about resting Yaya. We need a performance like the Capital One Cup as others have said.

Whoever plays will need to withstand Liverpool's fast start. I think a lot is going to rely on whether Bravo can find his form and if Kun takes the one or two chances he will get.

Advantage is a fresh Aguero and I am not sure if we'll see the usual LFC Cup Final performance against us as this fixture gives them no recovery time. If they play at 100% then they will find it very difficult to recover. Like us they have a game 48 hours later

Bravo
Sagna
Otamendi
Stones
Clichy
Dinho
Silva
Kevin
Sterling
Aguero
Sane
as well as yaya has played, we need to go back to what worked at the start of the season

I'm never confident going to Anfield - our record there is abysmal. At least we go there on the back of three wins, and with Aguero available. Having an extra 24 hours to recover could help too. Hopefully they'll get a red card or two tonight. Still think it'll be extremely tough though, and would take a point.

Bravo
Sagna
Otamendi
Kolarov
Clichy
Fernandinho
Toure
Silva
De Bruyne
Sterling
Aguero

Sterling and Sane on the wings is a must. Pool is a team it could be good to play long balls against, to counter against them, hope Pep dares to try this tactic

He's certainly done it before, with Bayern Munich, to counter Klopp's Gegenpress.
