Liverpool FA Cup s/f (N) | Post Match Thread

Yeah I was part of the problem yesterday leaving early which I never do. Totally the wrong attititude but I went to the match resigned to the fact we would make changes, consequently get beat and really I only went out of a sense of loyalty that having had some great days at Wembley I should be there when its not such a great day also.

Frustrating thing is I think if you added a Laporte (Dias now fit again), Ederson and Gundogan (hardly played) to that side it would have been very competitive and I cannot see a reason they could not have played. Bad day all round.

As for the booing, and the stuff you alluded to, It was not noticeable where I was sat but behaviour like that is an absolute disgrace.
Booing was a disgrace mate I agree but we all arrived late (12 mins in to be precise) as the train was late then having to navigate the escalators to the top tier...I'm not sure everyone arrives late on purpose, what's the point in doing that really?

If Pep really wanted to win that game, Ederson would have played so that in itself told it's own story without the other absentees. Almost felt like the Charity Shield and not an FA Cup semi final. No atmosphere from our end too like you say.

Yeah loved it apart from that. Haha
Not all Blues were sat down in silence. In 109 we stood for the whole game and did our best to back the team. Wasn’t helped by the fact the keeper did exactly what thousands of us predicted he’d do, which personified a shambolic first half.

Despite the scousers sat above us, in City seats, spitting on us and breaking a girl’s arm, we sang and we tried.

What an absolutely shit day that was!

Liverpool took it more seriously than we did. We treated it like a friendly and got what we deserved.

The fans… We didn’t bother selling out, even in the blocks that were available to us, there were empties everywhere. Before everyone comes up with their excuses, I know loads of people who just couldn’t be arsed so the excuses won’t wash with me! People within my group couldn’t fill a minibus (when we’re normally turning people away), a local pub that usually runs a coach couldn’t fill a coach, people who sit around me in the ground who pulled their faces about going when I asked them last Sunday, spoke to others in the free coach on the way down yesterday who said the coach they normally go on wasn’t run because there was no interest.
Liverpool fans filled their end and some in our end.

And why the fuck are our fans so averse to getting to our seats early? Fans still filtering in in their hundreds minutes after kick off, while their end was full minutes before.

Not one ounce of atmosphere came from us. Oh apart from the shameful cunts who booed and shouted comments during the Hillsborough moment of silence. Never felt more embarrassed to be a Blue at that moment. Anyone who has a problem with Liverpool and Heysel, bring that up with LFC and the governing bodies and the media in an email or something, don’t go and fucking boo during a moment of respect for people who died you fucking disrespectful thick cunts! We deserve every bit of criticism coming our way for that.
We weren’t arsed in the stands during the game at all. Liverpool fans were well up for it. That was the best atmosphere from them that I’ve heard from any game we’ve been to Wembley (including any of ours). Their whole end stood up, even in the top tier, they were starting songs off in all areas, we just had a load of people who looked like they didn’t want to be there all sat down contributing fuck all. Fucking embarrassing from our fans! We acted like we had absolutely no ounce of belief that a treble was on the cards for us whatsoever.

The amount of our fans who left early was shit n’all. What’s the point in going all that way if you’re not going to stay to the end? As bad as we were, we very nearly took it to extra time… have some fans never learnt anything from being a City fan and the amount of come backs and late goals we’ve scored?

The team… We started like we couldn’t be arsed. Slow ponderous boring as fuck football by a team who - seemingly just like the fanbase - had absolutely no ounce of belief that a treble was on the cards for us whatsoever. Against a team who were well up for it, who responded to their fans, who looked like they believed that an historic quadruple is on the cards for them.
Okay we grew into the game a bit but let’s be honest they took their foot off the gas at 0-3 and had the rest of their season in mind, and they still looked as likely to make it 1-4 or 2-4 at any point we could have made it 2-3 or 3-3.

Why is it, that players who look good when others are around them, shrink like dying flowers anytime de Bruyne Gundogan Dias etc. aren’t on the pitch? I have never seen Sterling step up in the usual leaders’ absence and drive this team on to anything, it’s about time Foden started doing it as he’s experienced enough now, what a game for Grealish to show us that he’s worth picking for the run-in… they, along with others, were all fucking shit!

Is Pep allergic to making subs? Mahrez was his master stroke was it? He’s been stinking the place out over the last few weeks with meek as fuck performances. Get fucking Delap on, try it, it might have worked.

That was one of my least favourite days ever being a blue! Our fans were shit and some were a disgrace to the club. Our players were woeful for the most part. Manager had a poor day. Fucking wank day out, now I’ve fucked off home.

I agree. I think we are flat as a fanbase. We don’t really sing, chant or support the team now, other then the odd game. It’s been like that the last few times at Wembley.

im a hypocrite as I didn’t go yesterday. I don’t enjoy Wembley or the journey there and thought I’d save myself some money and have a better time watching it with my mates in the pub… that view was shared by lots of city fans

There's a limit to how much credit I can give a guy for taking one of the biggest teams in the world and taking them back to one of the four best in the country. Being the first competent manager they had in ages isn't automatically deserving of praise.
It's not like they have no histree, is it?

I was in 506 on the upper tier and the minutes silence / respect was observed in the blocks nearest to me. I could tell by the nature of the noise that most of it was concoursesigning.

I wouldn’t get embarrassed by a few tasteless comments / boos. The knobs doing that are responsible for themselves. Liverpool’s lack of contrition for the Heysel killings doesn’t affect the sympathy of most fans for the Hillsborough 97 and their families, RIP.

The minute’s silence was poorly publicised / communicated and I initially thought there was a minutes applause for somebody.
While most Blues present did respect the minute’s silence, and some of it may have been concourse singing, there were loads in the ground behind the goal who started chanting City and they knew what they were doing Tim, and that was fucking shameful, as were those booing. I hate the dippers with a passion, I hate their victim mentality (such as booing the national anthem), but there’s a time and a place if people want to be disrespectful cunts, and yesterday wasn’t it.

I also thought our support was shocking yesterday. Row upon row in where I was were sat on their hands the entire game, but let’s be honest it was the same everywhere. We can take the piss out of the dippers being Norwegians, we can give it “spot the scouser on the kop” but they were very fucking loud yesterday, from before the kick off, and all of them seemed to be singing, we never get that, too many can NEVER be arsed. Someone in front of me turned round to my 13 year old who was angry at the fact nobody was singing and said “well we all support City in our different ways”, quick as a flash my 15 year old said “yeah but not by fucking telepathy”. On this occasion he wasn’t told off for swearing.

I find it hard to criticise our lack of numbers yesterday but it was at best disappointing. My lads said it was “pathetic” and I tried explaining to them that when people criticise our support and history our support from around 1978 to 2011 was our history (of that period), and we were famous for our loyalty; “not any more dad” was the response, and it was bloody hard to argue.

As regards the team selection and performance, it was really disappointing but tbh I was more gutted last Sunday than yesterday, the PL IS more important and it hurts more when you batter the opposition and don’t win than it does to lose when you don’t turn up, players and fans. At least there’s one less PL game to squeeze in now. Not great but it’s a crumb. Let’s hope Chelsea win today and give the dippers a really hard game, and a beating.

As for the dippers fans, as loud as they were in the ground, they were unbearable cunts outside it, the only thing worse than a bad loser is a bad winner. Our group of 4 was aged 13,15, 63 and 71, hardly a threatening mob, but the number of dippers who came up to us and tried to provoke trouble was despicable. I thought they were actually worse than the villa fans at Wembley.

Not a good day, a fucking shocker, but let’s hope the injured and tired players recover and regroup and win the 2 remaining trophies. And let’s hope our fans do our job, in our own fucking ways of course

Bitterness? Is that because I’m annoyed we tossed away an FA Cup semi final again due to team selection? I’ve got nothing to be bitter about, I watched us week in week out in division 2. I’m entitled to be pissed off at 4 changes to the defence and midfield against Liverpool though.

It’s your money it’s your choice but I think even more will choose to miss the next one if the manager can’t be arsed trying to win it. He’ll go full strength in the 3rd round against the Dog and Duck too! The blokes a genius though so don’t question him. Needs a European cup this season to keep the tag over custard teeth.
When we play the D&D in 3rd round we wont have just played Atletico twice and LFC once with an vital PL game in a few days, with a fully fit squad in the middle of the season. The circumstances are totally different Pep will always play a team from the available players that he believes will get a result. Klopp was able to play his strongest team and he is determined to go full out for the FAC, a competition he's never been arsed about, having just played 2 easy games against Benfica.

Fucking scouse love-in not only from the bbc but also the wankers at the fa and wembley.
Why did the nation have to endure the scouse anthem dirge blasted out of the stadium pa, or our players in the tunnel?
Then we get the obligatory minutes silence, only this time it's just for one set of supporters. Why couldn't they wait wait and do it in the scouse slums when they got home.
The whole fucking pantomime left me disgusted, and that's before a ball was even kicked in anger.
Sickening.
