Liverpool fans throwing missiles from South Stand Level 3

We hate bill shankly and we hate big ron but worst of all hate st John,

We’ll fight the koppites one by one and throw them in the river mersey

Yes! Good one Shirley. That brings back some memories!

'Koppites' was definitely a term quite widely used to refer to Liverpool fans in the 60s. Not necessarily in a negative / argumentative fashion, more so in a Beatles / Merseybeat 'poppy' style.

Daft territorial football songs, sung by daft fans at the end of an age of greater innocence, when people didn't see football as the most important thing in their lives, but just a bit if fun / entertainment on a Saturday afternoon.

Modern football media has brainwashed people into believing that it's an important part of life, to the extent that fans have 'a problem' with anything even remotely perceived as being negative to 'their' club.

It's a game not a war. Multi millionaires kicking footballs around for entertainment of people who take offence at a word written on a door.

What a daft society we live in.

I may be misremembering the exact words here, but I definitely recall singing this in the 60s...

Said Bill Shankly to Joe Harvey,
"Have you heard of the kopites down Mersey?"
Joe said "no, I don't think so, but I've heard of the Kippax, Maine Road"

Obviously the stand/ground would be amended to fit the singing club, but I'm sure the term 'kopite' was standard.

Before anyone says it.... No, it wasn't me that wrote on the door.
Before my time that as well...never heard it before.

I do remember a similar song about the North stand

"Joe Mercer said (can't remember ..Bertie mee?)
have you heard of the North Bank Highbury
No Said Joe I dont think so
but Ive heard of the North Stand
Maine Road"

Never the solution- just means ours gets cut likewise at anfield.

Once they start with it will end up reductions each year like the issue rangers and Celtic have had.

If we get united tonight away in the draw I’ve no doubt would only be normal allocation again due to ‘safety concerns’ when in reality they know they can charge more to home fans.

Not good for match going fans.
Nah, you're thinking of the PL price cap rule which wouldn't apply in the cup.

Think you are right about the reduced allocation becoming tit for tat though.

They should have made a very public announcement that alcohol will not be available in the away section or something.

We have had reduced allocation at places like Anfield and Boro for persistent standing. It was popular 10-15 years ago for the police to obviously film the crowd all game, then next time the allocation was reduced. They seemed to completely give up on it after a few years of the odd reduction. I think the Boro reduction was for a night match under Pearce when we didn't take many, the BWP goal late on?

Perhaps you've been going in the wrong pubs and speaking to the wrong people.

It's a word. Someone wrote it on a door.

Let it go it doesn't matter. It really doesn't.
It seems to have been used in this century by Everton fans. I’m thinking a Showsec type Toffee steward who works there for the cash but like us fucking despises the deluded hypocrites
