Our players at the World Cup have been fairly anonymous.

Lack of form, past their best or just buggered from the intensity of the last few seasons?

Not expecting great things from them when they return.
You would hardly notice that Alvarez was playing tonight listening to the reports.

Two goals and fouled for the Messi penalty.

Really? Ake i thought was very good, Bernardo and Dias seemed to perform pretty well. Julian has been superb and Foden, Walker and Stones all did really well. Rodri played CB for most of it and Laporte seemed to play well from what i saw.

Of the players i did really see, id say Kev and Gundo were the two that didnt play well, but i think there are bigger pictures with Belgium and Germany.

Kev hasn’t looked his best for a while, even for us

Although he’s still capable of moments of magic as we’ve seen this season. He just seems to be lacking the consistency of a few years ago. Even pep has acknowledged he hasn’t been at his best. I’m not really sure why though.

It doesn’t really seem like he’s been enjoying playing for Belgium in recent times, and maybe the World Cup and the thought of the international duty there has been weighing on his mind. Maybe he will come back and feel like a weight has been lifted in a way and he can just get on with his club football.

We have seen enough this season that he still has the same quality though and can play balls that other people can’t, so maybe he just hasn’t been mentally there to be completely consistent, but I get the feeling we’re going to see him at his best more regularly ..

As for Gundo, yeah, I think that’s just simply a case of Germany being shite. As good a player as he may be, stylistically he’s not really the kind of player that’s going to stand out massively in a shit team.

Yep most of our lads have played ok. Nice to see most getting an extra week's rest as well..i wasn't too fussed about england losing tbf..seemed about the right result
.clear chances were limited for england..but the ref was a dick though

Just over a week until we can finally get back to it. A great game for our return to action. With the Leeds game 6 days later it makes sense to play a strong team and look to get match fitness and form back in the side ahead of the busy Christmas/NY period where we have some really challenging games - Leeds away, Everton. Chelsea away, Chelsea FA Cup, Rags away, Spurs, Wolves, Spurs away. Need to get straight into form and playing well to go and win that title and push on in the cups.

Spoke to a Liverpool fan outside school today, says he has a ticket in the home sections, but says he won't make a murmur if they score. Can see there being one or two more dotted around tbqh
