so this from a blue on twitter and I feel the same

"If I know anything about Manchester City , the last two results are leading up to something remarkable on Tuesday. "

last 2 defeats will really focus the players mind , I hope

It’s the nil bit that I am not convinced about.

Yes of course - that’s the big challenge.
Very different game to the one at Anfield though I think.
We may also have to ride our luck a bit at times - but it’s still very possible.
It would also be a very ‘city’ thing to do as well after the events of the past week.

I would drop Otamendi. Been terrible last two games.

If we turned this game around it would give us such a huge boost.

Yes, that's a fair point. Just have this vision of running ourselves into the ground, losing at Tottenham, United winning their next two before we play Swansea with just a 7 point lead. That heaps pressure back on us.

Winning at Tottenham is very hard and without Fernandinho just got harder. But we really need it as that is what will really take all the pressure off because United then have to win every game or hand the title.

Not sure we can win both these games given our exhaustion levels and what winning Tuesday will take.

We have to give it a go though and it certainly is not impossible.

Just a shame we have had so many tough games in quick succession with a lot of luck going against us.

Hopefully that will change Tuesday. Milner own goal, then brings down Sterling for penalty, then Aguero blasts one in.

After that the next 85 minutes will be alright.

We might possibly win on the night but will lose on aggregate.

There’s just a faint hope, as Liverpool can be extremely flaky on occasion. However, they only need to score and that would leave two Mount Everests to climb.

If we we’d got the away goal I would be saying different. Morale is probably fcuked anyway after yesterday.

They rested players too Saturday and should have lost to Everton in their derby.

Arguably they had more to play for than we did in ours.

But they had luck on their side to keep it 0-0 and that deserted us as all the close calls went against us.

If, as without doubt we should have had the ref and linesman been on their game, we got a 3-3 draw and I think we would all be really up for Tuesday.

We just had a rough few days and these things usually even themselves out.

Winning 5-1 Tuesday, 3-1 at Wembley and United losing to a last minute offside goal v West Brom would even things out.

Drop Otamendi and Kompany, Kompany was supposed to come back and stabilize the back 4 instead him and Otamendi have conceded 7 goals in the last 3 games. Not good enough. Also starting on Tuesday it would be 4 games in 11 days for them with Otamendi also having started both games for Argentina during the break.

Ederson

Walker
Stones
Laporte
Delph

Fernandinho
De Bruyne
Silva

Sterling
Aguero
Sane

Stones and Laporte will be assets in the passing game. Laporte can play those long diagonals and bring the ball out. They can’t do any worse than Otamendi and Kompany so might as well start them.

Bring on Jesus for a defender early in the second half if needed.

Would also have Mendy on the bench ready for an all out blitz in the second half. Mendy putting in those wonderful crosses and Aguero and Jesus attacking them.

We have nothing to lose.

After Anfield and the derby, major disappointments, the players owe us a performance.

We didn't sacrifice anything though did we?

Pep put out a side which should have scored half a dozen goals, he very clearly put out a side that was more than good enough to win, nothing was sacrificed.

You're complaining that Gundogan and Sterling missed 4 chances, and blaming it on Guardiola who set up the side in such a way that they created those chances, ever stop to think how stupid that is?

Possibly the least logical post I’ve seen this week. Read it again and reflect. Since when has creating spurned chances won anything? Did you stop to think whether a striker might have have more chance of putting chances away? Why don’t we cash in on Aguero and Jesus and have done with it?

Pep's clearly throwing all his eggs in his basket for this game so I expect us to go through

It seems you already prepare your go at Pep in case City go out...

Pep only changed the team on 4 positions as far as I know: Danilo for Walker, Delph for Laporte, Bernardo and Raz for KDB and Jesus.

Many were afraid Pep might rotate out the likes of Komps, Silva, Sané, Dinho or Ota as well. He didn't.
"clearly throwing all his eggs in his basket" is in fact nonsense. You know it mate.
Pep did find a mix that was well able to fight for a derby win and was fantastic 1st half.
The 2nd half is a different story and has nothing to do with lineup, but attitude and maybe missing coolness/cleverness.

---

Pep and the team had to swallow 2 painful defeats. Confidence might be in question for some players.

We only go to the semis if we believe in the miracle.
The players have to believe and the crowd have to show their belief as well in the way they support. It will be loud after the 1st leg for sure.

As I said player's confidence is not the best. Clean sheet seems impossible.
That exactly is City's chance.
Pep needs to take away the pressure of failing and let them do what they did so often over this season.

Speaking for myself I have seen too many football matches to know that the ride isn't over.
Believe and do the unbelievalable.

He wasn't exactly brilliant in Argentina's 6-1 thrashing by Spain either. Time for Stonesy to step up to the plate.

Agree with you both. Would bench Kompany too. 7 goals conceded in the last three games with those two at CB.

Stones and Laporte can’t do any worse and at least offer a lot more in terms of passing and bringing the ball out.

Before the game even started the other night i had issue with the referee being the same nationality as Jurgen klopp

not telingl me they ain't shared a brew and watched some Auf Weidersein Pet

Is Laporte fit?

If so, I’d play him in place of Kompany and leave Gundogan and Sterling on the bench, too.

That’s he team I’d play town for stones and Laporte to step up

......Ederson
Walker - Kompany - Laporte - Delph
.........Dinho
B.Silva - KDB - D.Silva - Sane
.......Aguero

Need to have Jesus, Sterling, Toure (penalties) on the bench

Is Laporte fit?

If so, I’d play him in place of Kompany and leave Gundogan and Sterling on the bench, too.

I would drop Kompany, Otamendi and Gundogan definitely.

Sterling I would give him a pass, at least he offers a threat on the wing with his pace and does get into good scoring positions, so I think we need him and Sane on the wings for Tuesday night.

Aguero or Jesus don't create those chances, so they certainly don't score them. Maybe they score different chances, but anyone who thinks Jesus and Aguero have not had games where they missed a couple of sitters is a completely delusional, Jesus is in shit form infront of goal especially.

Guardiola put out a team that was more than good enough to win yesterday, and should have won by 3 or 4 goals.

It's not his fault players who've been scoring goals all season suddenly missed. I wonder if you were slagging off Pep for starting Sterling and Gundogan at half time?
