Liverpool (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Gigi - Brilliant save from Liverpool’s only shot on target, but he needs to dampen the rush of Ederson’s tiger blood to the head on storming out of his area!

Nunes - Absolutely outstanding defending his flank, but also did a brilliant job bursting forward. Almost got done by Gakpo on the back post, but other than that barely put a foot wrong.

O’Reilly - Who is that little fella in his pocket?!!! Only thing missing from this performance was a goal…! That’s our non-left back, left back!

Dias - Huge, big, brave, strong leadership. Every game recently I have just said “solid” but he was Herculean today.

Gvardiol - Played a couple of dodgy balls out of the back, and is starting to fart about a bit on the playing out from a goal kick, but he wasn’t bad by any stretch.

Bernardo - What superlatives do I have left to say about him? I’m running out! He is the heartbeat of the team. Never stops moving, always available, sets the tempo, knows when to slow it down, when to speed it up, when to foul, when to let the player go, and he literally covers every blade of grass multiple times a game. Just revelatory considering he will be leaving at the end of the season. Statue material…and I hope it’s him holding his paper cup of tea with his jacket on!!

Foden - Playing at his very best, both going forward and working the hard yards on defence. Simply outstanding and if he isn’t the best English attacking midfielder in the country, I’d like to have a strong word.

Gonzales - I hate to even say these words, but if Real Madrid offer us stupid money for Godri, I might just take it! He has grown in leaps and bounds this season and could walk into ANY midfield in the country, with the possible exception of one or two.

Cherki - Nice touches, attacking threat, still growing into the team. Just wish he’d have had a crack a time or two instead of trying to beat one more player when he’s already in the box on goal.

Haaland - Great header, poor penalty. Excellent work, always putting their back two under threat, and sprinting back to defend in the 90+ minute region says everything about his desire for the team.

Doku - What can you say? On a day when Salah was the “highlight” winger, Doku walked away with MOTM for being absolutely unplayable for 72 minutes. His goal was simply superb. You could see it coming and it was only going to be a matter of whether it was on target and whether their GK was going to get a finger on it. No chance. Buried it! Perfect curtain call for his best performance in a City shirt…on the highest stage! Long may it continue.

Brilliant team performance, highlighted by Haaland’s goal, which was 22 passes over 73 seconds, with every outfield player playing a part!

Always nice to go into an Intl Break on a high. Now, let’s pray no-one gets injured in a BS intl game! Be nice if O’Reilly got a run out in at least one game, preferably the first one, so he can get his just desserts for his recent run of form!

Somebody needs to tell everyone that thought this was going to be a bad season…

WE’RE NOT REALLY HERE!!!

Enjoyed that.

Doku standout.

Apart from Gvardiol and maybe cherki the rest did great.

Signs we are a formidable team again but also patches in the game were we need a big save from Donna or a bit of luck.

Very happy with the recent improvements. Not yet back to greatness but obvious signs.

Special mention to nico oreilly and nico covering for Rodri. We don’t win games without either and both must play.

He had to duck to get out of the way of the ball.

He........was.......... offside.

He.....was...... offside.

These cunts are arguing black is white. It's fucking offside you cunts.
They have to be contentious to attract viewers, I guess, particularly as today one of the main contenders saw their crown crash to their feet.

Great win. Phenomenal Doku.

We can and will play even better.

Cherki has barely played so far, let's hope Rodri will come back strong. Him and Gonzalez in midfield will be fantastic.

The show will go on.

Even the BBC commented that the Anfield 'faithful' were on their way home before the final whistle!!

Liverpool fans have cleared out pretty quickly from the Etihad and have made an early dart down the M62.

A day to forget for them and the team.
