Liverpool (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Absolutely fucking loved today..beating the murderers is always great but today we toyed with them.
NOR, Nunes, Bernie, Nico G, Phil and big Earl were excellent but Doku was amazing..he ran them fucking ragged.
Bloody throat is sore now but worth it..we are definitely getting better and that's without Rod who I think when paired with Nico G will improve us further.
Enjoy the two weeks before we play again..I know I will.
I’m in Tenerife and gutted to have missed it. Watched it with the Tenerife Citizens in Los Cristianos. Totally concur with your analysis. Doku was different gravy today. So deserved his goal.

Outstanding performance today. Best I’ve seen us play for 2 years probably. Well done to Pep and the team. Imagine us with a fully fit Rodri as well.

Gutted to miss my first league match of the season today due to work but sounds like the boys in blue done us proud today. Good to see the team clicking, just seen the highlights Doku on fire.
I have to say I have really enjoyed seeing how far Nico O'Reilly has came on. Seems assured and strong defensively and good going forward.

Apart from all the above, I was highly impressed with our physicality today. We were actually stronger in the physical battles than they were. For me, this had been a weakness this season up to now.

Also, apart from the corner Van Dyke scored from, we are getting really good at dealing with set pieces and corners. We've seen off Arsenal's, liverpool's, united's and Brentford's main threat with some ease. Now if we could just score from a corner....

The MOTD highlights were awful, made the game look even almost favoured Liverpool action wise. Only showed Doku’s performance in two clips and one was the goal. Murphy showing a bit more in the after match chat

Baffling why the bbc but another red shirt in Rooney on there. He was struggling to but two words together and offered no insight. Just repeated what Murphy said.

He had to duck to get out of the way of the ball.

He........was.......... offside.

He.....was...... offside.

These cunts are arguing black is white. It's fucking offside you cunts.
Don’t understand the controversy at all

Donna doesn’t know which way to dive because he has to anticipate whether Robertson is going to head it .. while he is in offside position

Interfering with play. No?

Shout out to @CorporateBlue for the tip on free WiFi on my flight today. Got to watch the whole game live and uninterrupted.

That was a fine tribute for Pep's 1000 game as a manager. Players were immense. One or two of them that seemed to be struggling for form seem to have just clicked in recent weeks. Nunes was great down that right hand side. Solid in defence and that cross for Haaland's goal was special.

Doku was utterly superb today. Run them absolutely ragged and they didn't have a clue how to handle him. I though from about 20 minutes in he was going to be a solid contender for MotM, and he didn't let me down. O'Riley had one of his best games in a City shirt. Pocketed Salah, who pretty much gave up even trying to get past him after around 70 minutes.

Nico G has definitely found his feet in the DM role, and his goal was Rodri-esque. VDD was a staue in defence as it sailed into the net. Bernie didn't stop running all game again. His booking was justified, but given what he let them get away with, a little unfair. Phil also put a shift in and seemed to enjoy himself today, and Haalland, despite not getting many chances took his header well (right place to get his head on it). Cherki also played well again and didn't seem to want to come off, which is a really good sign.

Back line was solid again, and Dias is coming back into form again. Gvardiol also put in another solid performance, both players seem to be benefitting from game time.

Definitely a penalty, and I'd have put money on Haaland tucking it away, but their antics in the build up (appearing to scuff up the spot, and knocking into Haaland a few time as he was waiting to take the kick) was standard fayre from those cheating cunts. Take nothing away from the save though.

At the other end, Dick Van Dipper was unlucky with the disallowed goal. I don't think Robertson was interfering with Donna's line-of-sight, and I'd have been pissed off if had been the other way round, but fuck 'em. I also think St. Virgil should have been booked for a snide foul on Cherki, and their was also a push on Doku that went unpunished (Sobozoli?).

Starting to click.

Oh, and Wirtz (or Wieertz, as John Champion kept referring to him as on my comms) was dogshit.

Still scored 17 of his 20 for City in the PL. 85% pretty good success rate. Thought their keeper was a bit lucky in that he committed very early. Erling must be a bit old school in never changing his mind on where he is putting his spot kick. If he could work on one of those stutter run ups he'd have had an open net today.
What happened to the dead eye from the spot hammering it into the left but sweeping it into the right if the keeper was movng in that direction
