Liverpool (H) - Post-Match Thread

Ref was awful. Whistle happy twat!!
That kind of reffing kills a game like this.
Clever reffing for a team in red.

Very few ridiculous decisions but a steady stream of fouls for them that looked softer than what he needed to see to give us a foul.

The giving Raheem advantage but not pulling it back when there was none. He’d pulled one back for them a short time before.

What was also noticeable to me was the lack of replays of fouls on a good few occasions - my cycnical self tells me that it’s because they don’t want to make these little errors to be scrutinised further.

We are still on a serious hangover from the Lyon game...No one seems to able to push on from it and it's killed us dead...Unless we get someone with some bollocks in the squad to ruffle a few feathers and lead from the front we will be lucky to finish top 6 as we look bereft of guidence all over the pitch

Yes, scousers looked like they were there for the taking in the second half, and if we had gone for it and got done on the break as we have done many times before, can you imagine the moaning on here....

Gundogan & Rodri took more risks playing sideways & backwards than we would going forward.

I thought we completely controlled the game after the frantic first 15 mins. Defensively excellent: everyone knew when to press them and when to make a tactical foul and they created basically nothing. Diaz got done by Mane once but them recovered and they ended up going wide for a shot Ederson smothered. Other than that I cant remember anything. Salah nothing and Firmino anonymous.

Creatively we were pretty shit but you also have to say Liverpool defended well, crowding out our best players in the final third. Our best moments came from crosses

KDB didnt have the best game, he struggled with fatigue and should have been subbed. Sterling and Jesus gave it everything and maybe Sterling could have created more chances as he was on the ball in the box facing their defenders quite a bit. Maybe Mahrez would have created more in those conditions , he certinly would have had a shot or two, but he wasnt available.

Overall a shame we didnt win as they couldn't have complained we didnt deserve it, but a defeat would have been a psychological disaster so i’m just glad we seen to have moved past the ‘getting blitzed by Liverpool for 30 mins’ type
of games we had several times against them.

It was a shit 1-1 and in 3 or 4 years time no one will be able to remember it.

Lets be honest, if Mahrez was rotated out of the squad, same thing should happen soon with Sterling too unless he delivery quickly.

We need a front three that is performing from match to match. We cannot have passengers and players needing 5-6 games for a goal or an assist.

Not having a pre season, and too many games to play wont be an excuse for anyone.
And you can bet even when we are guaranteed 1st in CL group after 4 games most likely, Pep will still play most of the strongest players in the complete useless 5th and 6th CL games instead of rotating them.
