Liverpool (H) - Post-Match Thread

Lets be honest, if Mahrez was rotated out of the squad, same thing should happen soon with Sterling too unless he delivery quickly.

We need a front three that is performing from match to match. We cannot have passengers and players needing 5-6 games for a goal or an assist.

Not having a pre season, and too many games to play wont be an excuse for anyone.
And you can bet even when we are guaranteed 1st in CL group after 4 games most likely, Pep will still play most of the strongest players in the complete useless 5th and 6th CL games instead of rotating them.

Totally agree...

Sterling playing for himself alone wasted most of the chances by not passing and KDB looked slow today, Jan Molby type runs.

Emerson solid 6/10
Walker average 6/10
Cancello 8/10 MoM
Diaz & Laporte solid performances 7/10
Gundoghan average 6/10
Rodri solid 7/10
Torres went missing 5/10
Sterling poor 5/10 De Bruyne knackered 6/10
Jesus mobile & dangerous 7/10.

So for me a draw is ok. We will get better as the season wears on. Aguerro back soon. I don’t believe Gundoghan and Rodri should both play. Silva or Foden should replace one of them.

We were not at our best today and still, Dark Arts FC couldn't beat us. The media narrative that ours was never a Pen but their's was stonewall is in overdrive. Wolves didn't get afforded the same media outrage earlier in the day. Positively like my wife without a drink in her, our back door looks firmly shut.

We are still on a serious hangover from the Lyon game...No one seems to able to push on from it and it's killed us dead...Unless we get someone with some bollocks in the squad to ruffle a few feathers and lead from the front we will be lucky to finish top 6 as we look bereft of guidence all over the pitch

We have players like KDB, Sterling, dead on their feet, but the policy appears as if we are just going to keep playing them almost all the time, until they cave in, expecting them to suddenly find a 2nd wind & become inspired.

We need to use the young players more, to increase the workrate & take some of strain. Rather than playing two Morris Travellers, towing caravans, in midfield.

I'm glad some people have have some positivity. I've only dipped into the thread but it's mostly depressing.

I don't know if it is a shift in our favour or not but I think City are slowly but surely shifting towards being more solid and that Pep has deliberately moved the team to a slightly more cautious approach.
People were taking about evolution, he’s doing that and rebuilding, starting like any top manager would, from the back...

it is a top class left back away from being as good as anything in Europe... we’ve genuinely just been spoilt with our attacking exploits over the last 3 years, he’s tweaking it to counter how teams invariably gain success against us.....

Any good manager, be it in McDonald’s or transferable to sport, reacts to a cause of lack of productivity, yet he’s being hammered for evolving... this is 2017 all over again, he’s laying the foundation for the long game!

A point is a point and it's very early days. Surprised how liverpool ran out of energy second half, would have liked City to have stepped it up than. Not sure why we didnt go for it.
I think Pep is looking look term in the management of the squad, which looking how liverpool dropped off might benefit us at the back end of the season.
Agree I would like City to up the pace and go for it, but Doesnt seem to be Peps way in the pandemic.

Blimey. I'm disappointed with the result but you can rely on people on here to go over the top. Put the penalty away we would have won. Bit of a cautious second half but I think it's the number of games we've been playing. Kev"s knackered. Mentally we're not at the top of our game. But centre backs were excellent which is a thing we haven't had for a while. Jesus is back and scoring. Cancello is offering something different this year. We move on and hopefully other teams tire and get injuries like we've been suffering at the start of this season. It's not going to be a classic this year, no fans in the ground is affecting all teams.

Team and Pep were more than happy with this shit draw. Too bad, they were there for taking and we did not push on in second half to put pressure on their fragile defence.

Aston Villa went at them relentlessly and scored 7.

Missing the pen is really a regular theme for us, please stay after training to practice it.

Last year this fixture was a 4-0 win for City, 2 points less this season, 1 point plus for them. And we hardly did test Allison.
When we go to Anfield I wonder they will be so soft and happy with a draw against us as we were against them.

Sterling, KDB, Torres absolute shit game they had, Walker too. They should raise their game in games like this.

Chelsea, United, Spurs all won, they might as well be very happy with this 1-1 result now.

Spurs-City after the break, dont know what to expect from Pep in a big away game (first this season) if this is what happened a big home game. Maybe another "happy" draw?
Well we lost that fixture last season, so a draw would be an improvement.
We are playing like a side looking to secure a top 6 finish.

And it is on Pep.

We should have beat them today.

He's changing our / his style mate.

He's accepted we cant rely on out scoring everyone and he's putting much more thought into the defensive element.

It's not as exciting or entertaining but I like it and I like that he's accepted it needs doing.

It borders on old fashioned going back to basics and there's nothing wrong with that.

Mystery how he couldn't displace any one of Gundogan/Rodri,KDB/Razza today.

You get the feeling the manager has his favorites. And this determines who plays.

Another thing is some players ae rotated regardless of form.

And others are flogged like a dead Horse.

Razza/Kdb look like they need a months rest.
"razza" should never start against the dippers again, he chokes every time without fail

No disrespect and nothing personal but absolute bollocks.
No pre season, hardly any end of season breaK, two matches per week plus ridiculous internationals during a worldwide pandemic and empty stadiums. Just don't expect the norm but we will comfortably finish in the top 6 and probably top 2/3.

This was the first really big test for Dias and he passed it. He defended very well. He clearly knows where the front post is. But, also, he had excellent passing stats.

Again, it's early days but he looks like he was a bloody good choice to be a Manchester City centre back.

I'm very disappointed at the lack of recognition the lad has got on here.

It was an excellent signing and I'm over the moon with him.

What I really like is that he hardly makes any mistakes and you dont really "notice" him.

CBs who dont get noticed are not being noticed because they're reading the game brilliantly and dealing with shit without fuss.
