Liverpool (H) | Post-Match Thread

Not been on here this weekend, but what a start to the weekend that was. It feels as good as a derby thrashing beating the dippers and what was even better was just how defeated their players and Klippety were afterwards. He couldn't throw any excuses out there, he just thanked us for not humiliating them further. He's done, they're done.

Watched it again on City+, awesome, The Beautiful Game on show

One of the best performances that yesterday in a long long time loved it. The whole front 6 plus stones put in a 9 out of 10.
I just want to mention that the stick Akanji is getting from a couple of posters is very harsh. Watch the game back again, he is very important to the way we play in this system with Stones moving into midfield. In possession he has to move across and almost cover 2 positions RCB/RB. If we lose possession it’s high risk and he gets exposed due to the gap down the channel but it’s the system not him. I’m a fan of Laporte but neither he or Dias could play the role Akanji is playing in this team.
Agreed 100% with Akanji. Grealish is now flavour of the month, so it seems it's Akanji's turn to be shit & not worthy of the shirt. :-/

It's all about opinions, but the £15m we spent on Akanji is the best value for money acquisition we've had since Fernandinho for £29m & Gundog for £22m.

It beggars belief that fans are getting on his case when he's had a brilliant first season with us. Pep picks him to start more often than not, so that's what City think of Akanji... \0/

Yes the man's a **** who's stuck the knife into our club more than most, that's why I was shocked he was so magnanimous in defeat. Perhaps he's getting used to such speeches after this season lol.

Yeah, it was a bit of a surprise, there was no wind and rain and snow and grass. The hacks even gave him soft ball "Rodri sending off" questions to cover his blushes, but he was having none of it, even suggested we'd have won with ten men!

Lol at the moaning about kdb being offside.... in the olden days that would and should be offside. Deluded twats.
What?, they saying Kev was offside when the pass went out to Mahrez? What a pair of twats - as you say GT, that is from 'olden times'!
And, btw, why was KDB given offside at end of first half after they blocked an Alvarez shot and it went wide to him? I thought an intentional touch from defender, falling to attacking player, now puts that player onside? Not saying I necessarily agree with that but if them's the rules...

I think he was shell shocked. That result was complete annihilation for them. Even when they went ahead against the run of play we were the better side. In the second half we just blew them away, they couldn't get near the ball. After our fourth goal the camera pans onto TAA's face and he's visibly shocked. Out of breath with a look of total disbelief on his face. We utterly demoralised them and it was beautiful to see.

Just reading the comments off a half decent McNulty piece on the beeb.

One "Peacefrog" posted a reply to some scally's saltiness that we can bring on Megabucks signings with pointing out we brought on Cole Palmer who cost us £0.00, they brought on darwen for £85m.

Owned, Sir, owned!

:-))

Did anyone see Michael Owen getting giddy at half time, as if he hadn't just watched a half of complete domination? Couldn't find a clip of him at full time, but I'd love to see his smacked arse of a face after that.

In the olden days you could pass back to the goal keeper. Which is when their previous league title the one they’ve won recently was lifted.

my Rodri 'red' card thought: maybe, in isolation, Rodri's 2nd 'pull' may have sometimes got a yellow and sometimes not, and in this case we had a ref that decided it didn't warrant one. Maybe he was lucky, maybe it was the right decision, but I am now fairly certain the 2nd yellow wasnt given due to Liverpool surrounding the ref. Given the new FA push on this, Hooper could not be seen to be capitulating to a 2nd yellow while being hounded, he just couldnt. I really believe Liverpool may have gotten their desired red card if they hadnt acted like twats.
Terrence-Trent-Alexander-Arnold did a much worse pull back on Grealish near the end of the first half which didn't even get punished, in fact the ref gave a free-kick to them after Grealish eventually got free of the holding arms and T-T-A-A fell to the ground.
