We get the better of them when we have the ball without it we defend get behind the ball then play the quick long ball down the wing on knock to Haaland! Bournemouth game showed how we can beat teams like these! Only threat is Ekitiki Nunes will pocket him like he picketed Bournemouths best player!

Some our fans are quick to look at our weaknesses while ignoring the opponents which have more problems!
I don’t disagree with what you’re saying but you don’t think Liverpool will look at us and think Haaland is the only threat and Van Dijk unfortunately has an incredible record of locking him up.

Yeah see that but we have more strings to our bow now and VVD is a year older and looked not as good this season!

Going to be a cracker of a game

Robertson has been great for the last 2 matches for the dippers

Both fullbacks were very good against Madrid I thought. Let's be fair if it wasn't for Courtois it would have been 5-0. A wobble didn't turn them into a bad team overnight and it will be a tough game as it always is against them. If everybody is fit for us and we're on it we still have a great chance of beating them.

If we lose on Sunday, our chances will take a proper hit. The title would be unlikely then. But unlikely things happen all the time. It was highly unlikely that Liverpool would win the title by 10 pts last season, and it happened. It was virtually impossible that Liverpool would lose 4 league games in a row, and it happened. Etc.

I agree, and it's why I think whoever loses on Sunday is out of the title race.

You do have to look at the averages though as well as the fact we have only won something like 7 out of the last 24 against the traditional top 6 since the start of the 4 in a row year. We haven't beat Liverpool or Arsenal home or away since the treble year.

This has to change as we cannot be relying on other teams to take points off our rivals. You cannot be losing 4 out of of your opening 11 and think that we will have what it takes to win the league.

I do think we will win on Sunday, however.

If Pep is worried about O'Reilly vs. Salah, he's likely to play Gvardiol at LB and Dias and Stones at CB.

I'm sure Pep will consider that possibility.

But since our record with Dias and Gvardiol at CB and O'Reilly at LB has been great, he isn't likely to change that. If something works, it's risky to change it. Pep experimented at Villa, partly forced by the absence of a fit DM, but the experiment wasn't successful.
I'd be loathe to change it. Oreilly has good physicality. Ake is rusty and coming in to face Salah is a big ask

We won't be out of the tile race should we lose, but our chances will be reduced from, say, 20 % to 5 %. And then, if Arsenal lose vs Spurs or Chelsea, or some other team unexpectedly (that's normal), our chances may come back to 20 %. It''s a long season, there's room for surprises.

Remember, we lost 3 from 4 league games in December 2018 and our chances to win the title were bleak, as we were 7 pts off Liverpool who looked very strong. Late January we lost at Newcastle: that made it 4 losses in 8-9 games. Still won it.

He looked pretty good against Mbappe the other night though who has been phenomenal just like Haaland this season.

I think it will be a cracker of a game as well however the fact both teams really can’t afford to lose has me slightly worried it could turn in a dour cagey affair.

Be great if Sunderland could take something off Arsenal because then a draw wouldn’t be such a terrible result.

You must really like Marmoush? He's only played about 5 minutes each game, there's 0 chance of him starting this one.
Not about liking him, it's about playing people who can score, and marmoush. even. not fully match fit has more likelyhood than doku and savinho.

Plus this thread is abput what people would like to see not what Pep will do so me wanting hima nd cherki etc to play means fuck all bar a bit of forum discussion.

Only against big teams away from home, e.g., at Real. Nunes is a better fit in possession and going forward.
I think Nunes is a better RB period. Against any team on any format. Khusa might be much more solid defensively, but we lose so much more that the individual defensive superiority doesn't make up for what is lost in every other aspect.

I'd bring Khusa on to close w game perhaps. But never to start one over Nunes. I think we are a better overall team with Nunes at RB than anyone else.

He wont be Nunes's man though. 5hat would be Dias or Gvardiol's job. Nunes will be saddle with either Gakpo or Wirtz... I suspect Gakpo.

Madrid played into Liverpool's hands though instead of playing an aggressive, direct game (I guess that's not the Madrid way).

Direct balls to Haaland will cause mayhem, and maybe you get your set piece coach to teach the players how to be more of a threat at corners and you'll give their backline a big problem.

I'd also play Cherki from the start if I were Pep - his role is just to make room and play it into Haaland/Foden. That's it. Do that repeatedly and they won't be able to handle it.

He's better, but he's NOT a right back.

There is no room for passengers in this. The guy has all the talent in the world but for now i think he’s best used as a sub for games of this magnitude.

This fixture is very rarely a 0-0.
Only once in the last 15 years has that happened.
Predicting a bollock clenching, high scoring, one-goal-in-it, nerve shredder.

City 4-3 Liverpool

We mustn't change anything in our defensive line. We can't praise O'Reilly's qualities and then change his position or leave him out because he'll be defending against an older Salah. That would send the wrong message to the player, a message of fear that our team will receive, and a psychological boost to the opposition. We're not afraid of them; it's up to them to figure out how to contain our players.
Exactly. Nico will be around long after Salah is gone.
