not ideal timing given they’ve found confidence again.

the big question for Pep is who to play right wing. they are so so weak there - Robertson might struggle 4 days after an intense 90 mins against Real. my least favourite option is Bernie but you feel pep might

A few interesting facts before the match against Liverpool:

I’m not entirely sure, but I believe that none of the current Manchester City players have a winning record against Liverpool. Dias, Stones, Foden, and Bernardo are the closest to it. We haven’t beaten them in the league since the spring of 2023.

Also, since joining in 2022, Haaland has scored only one Premier League goal against them. However, to be fair, he has missed several league matches against Liverpool — almost one each season.

Bloody typical that I've been pinged for a last-minute work trip to CA, and I'll be on a flight from Dallas to Santa Barbara for the duration of the game. Hopefully I'll be able to watch the game back on City+ once I get to my hotel.

I think we'll have more than enough to beat them, but these plucky Scousers have a habit of upping their game against us, and with the 'interesting' selection of officials for the game...

Unfortunately I think they will win.
We play the type of football that plays to their strengths where most of their defeats have been from teams playing direct, with long balls into spaces behind their defence and set pieces, and we know our set pieces are the worst in the PL and no danger to them. And they still have goals right throughout their team including set pieces where we only have Haaland and Foden and Cherki if he plays, who offer any goal threat so I think their CB's will dominate us.
Add to that a Dipper ref and a VAR official that will not want to upset them, its going to be tough.

My worry is as with every game we look brilliant at times we now also have a good match day squad but and it’s a big BUT lapses in concentration especially in the centre of the park and a drop off in energy in the second half is our weakness
Get a first half lead and keep focused we will win the lot again this season

Ironically even that was a scuffed effort that probably wouldn't have gone in if he hit it cleanly. Love the Viking but he always seems to go missing against this lot unfortunately. You can tell he has a lot of respect for Van Dijk and I wouldn’t say is overawed but just doesn’t have the same fire to perform and embarrass his opponent in this instance as what he would against Gabriel from Arsenal for example.

Jesus, when you see that you realise how much has changed.

Ederson gone
Lewis ousted by Nunes
Dias back in place of Khusanov
Ake barely featuring now
Nico becoming the player we thought he'd be
KDB gone
Doku now has the end product to go with his dribbling
Foden back to something close to his best

Håland too. His sureness went out the window along with everyone else's. It was disconcerting to see how he was putting the ball the wrong side of the post and bar, where he was putting it the right side in his sleep in his first season. Also, in one on ones with the keeper, he didn't look sure of himself, and quite often lost out on them. That's all back.
The team is evolving in the right direction. Now if Rod gets back, and is anything like his old self — I'm not sure about that, mind — I think this team could surprise a few people. Not least, City fans.

Not so much confidence but binning the new signings and going back to last seasons team. Essentially pushing Wirtz out of the midfield and either on the bench or wide

Hopes he gonna change it rapidly this weekend

Pessimist.

I know it might sound bonkers but I think this game might decide the season. It lays down a statement. If we win, the league starts to realise “oh shit they’re back” but if we lose the media will jump on the bandwagon against us again and it will feel like last night and Bournemouth were flukes.
On top of that, we will fall even further behind Arsenal.
We need noise from minute 1 to 90, can’t let Liverpool hear themselves think, just like that 18-19 season.
Defence needs to be spot on, Donnarumma will have to make a couple of big saves I feel.
And of course we need Phil, Cherki and big Erl in full form and absolutely firing.
This is a game that we cannot lose.
Come on city.

No point turning up as we are totally fucked it seems.
