Especially if Arsenal wobble. Last season they finished on 74 points. They are on for 95 points given their current form but are they really that good?
They had almost as many injuries as we did last season; not quite as many but probably next in-line in the league. This season, they are much more settled with regards to injuries (although, all three of their strikers are out injured at the moment).

I’d put 12-15 points on both City and Arsenal’s points totals from last season just from the injury situations being better.

These are the games when you really could do with a recognised right back who has the discipline to basically do his job . Nunes has been good but he still gets found out when he is singled out which is what will happen tomorrow.
If Kush was fully fit as I have posted previously I would probably play him. However, I have no problem with Nunes playing as this season he has been very good defensively as proven by his performance last week up against one of the best lw in the PL on current form.

The game is shaping up to be great and almost impossible to predict:
- City are stronger than last season, while LFC aren’t quite as brilliant as they were a year ago,
- both teams are in transition. City are further along with their rebuild, since they started earlier during the crisis (winter 2024/2025). For example, Nico has already made huge progress, which helps cover for Rodri’s absence,
- City also have Haaland, but Liverpool’s firepower is massive too — they can counter at any moment + their last matches against Villa and Real were better. It seems that returning to a classic midfield setup without Wirtz (who was playing on the wing) has been the right move, and LFC looked more stable.

I think the bookmakers’ odds of for instance City 1.89 / LFC 3.55 are a bit too high in City’s favour, but City are still the favourites since they’re playing at home.

It would be awesome to crush LFC, but any win would be great.

He was brilliant against Bournemouth and was up against their star player. I think he is really getting to grips with what Pep expects of him.

Let's face it, we never turn up against them. Our best players hide and their best players flourish.

They'll be on fire from the off. Wirtz will find his legs and prove he was worth the transfer fee and probably show he was actually a bit of a steal for the £100m+. Issac on his day would walk into the Real Madrid starting 11 in front of Mbappe and has the natural ability to be one of the best the PL has seen. VVD is the best defender the league has ever seen and probably on a par with Baresi at his height - and has still to be beaten in a 1:1 with any forward.

Liverpool are a juggernaut and we'll do well to go toe to toe with them.

Take 1-1 now and move onto easier games.

I'm off to John Lewis now.......

They are about right. We've been slightly better than Liverpool both in the PL and the CL and play at home as well.

My worry is that they have a day more to fully recover from the CL game, whereas we played two physically taxing games vs Bournemouth and Dortmund. But having nearly 4 full days to recover is OK.

Think Pep will start with Bernardo (next to Nico) and Cherki and will replace them with Reijnders and Savinho in the 2nd half to freshen things up.

Our line up for their visit in late February was:
Ederson
Lewis
Khusanov
Ake
Gvardiol
Gonzalez
Savinho
de Bruyne
Foden
Doku
Marmoush

Much made of Liverpool having to accommodate new players, but I wouldn’t be surprised if only 4 of the above 9 started.

I know many are sceptical of xG models, but they are often better than experts :)

So, in terms of xPTS (Understat):

Arsenal 21,47
City 20,00
Palace 17,67
...........
Liverpool (8th) 15, 60

One may argue that, after having fixed their midfield in the last two games, Liverpool are now much better than in the previous games, but that remains to be tested away from Anfield.

They wasn't great against villa and Madrid was awful but they won and kept 2 clean sheets (don't know how) which will give them confidence. But I would fancy pep to outwit slot which will hopefully see us collect the 3 points.

Ive spent this morning poring over data, x.G stats and tactical analyses. My conclusion is….
Let’s just smash the scouse cunts (but any win will do).

I going 4-1 for the blue boys.

Dipper!…:)

Chis Kavanagh, who I is believed to be a dipper fan
He is. Born in Ashton or Droylsden or somewhere similar. YCNMIU.

I am dreading this game. They will get a penalty, we will have at least 3 yellows, they will foul without any bookings. Why couldn't we have had them a few weeks ago when they were literally Dipping in their form??
I'd love Haalabd to rip van hype a new one, but all the fks will be against Erlibg.

They need watching on corners as well.

The fact the scum are winning and will be 2nd is depressing but should, if things are meant to be, act as an incentive to the lads tomorrow.

I detest the Dippers, they are a most vile club.

I mean it represents like 65% to 35% in favour of City win over LFC. Still i would say rather like 55-60/40. At this point of season its still great for me, because going by Peps strategy over last few seasons - we are even better every spring onwards.

Yeah, I would take same lineup. Maybe question mark around Dias/Stones or maybe both and no Nunes, assuming Gvardiol starting.
