Seems some have a tendency to over react completely after yesterday

Lets just remember that this was only our 3rd pre-season game with many players not even featuring in the States
Haaland first 90mins after not even training normally

I think some people - especially those lambasting Haaland are going to end up with egg on their face

The governing bodies have well and truly fucked the LotG over the last five or so years, particularly the handball law. The sanction should come if the players uses his hand'/arm to play the ball. There's been some dodgy pen decisions given over the last few years - Crappenberg when it hit Raheem in the back, Mossy when the ball didn't hit the Norwich player anywhere, and to cover the shit they presented they cover the law in babble, confusion, meaningless verbiage, so that what was fine last week is modified the week after, and i can't help but think the decision hinges more on the colour of the shirt, the preferred outcome, than what actually happened to ball and someone's arm.

Would VAR match the pen decision were it up the other end and it had hit Virgil on the elbow? Very much doubt it!

Haarland is gonna score goals. No need to compare the total goals but the ones he scores against CL contenders.

I’m getting the distinct feeling certain people are already setting Haaland up as this years new whipping boy. When they’re not slagging Jack off obviously.
There will be some very frustrated ‘City fans’ disappearing from here come May. Like there has been for four of the last five seasons.

‘Twas ever thus.

The media are certainly doing their bit. Ronay, Jackson, Ogden, all the usual fuckers are plugging the square peg, round hole narrative this morning

Let’s be honest, on a one to one basis the scousers will beat us 9 times out of 10. They have more belief and more desire. Man for man our team is better but I can’t ever see us getting any better against them. We’re clearly scared and in awe of them. They run us ragged. And anyone who doesn’t see that is deluded. Ignore all this pre season bullshit excuses, as a team their spirit is far better than ours.
You don’t seem to post much but when you do, wow. That’s a doosey

Current handball law so still don’t see why it was a pen.

It is an offence if a player:

  • deliberately touches the ball with their hand/arm, for example moving the hand/arm towards the ball
  • touches the ball with their hand/arm when it has made their body unnaturally bigger. A player is considered to have made their body unnaturally bigger when the position of their hand/arm is not a consequence of, or justifiable by, the player’s body movement for that specific situation. By having their hand/arm in such a position, the player takes a risk of their hand/arm being hit by the ball and being penalised

The Laporte pen vs Real was even less justified than yesterday's, as the ball hit Laporte's arm after coming off his head. Shit happens ( but would it happen if it was Real or Liverpool?).

It will be a short-lived narrative, Haaland is likely to score vs W Ham and be top scorer come the end of next month.

Our midfield was the biggest problem yesterday, poor passing and looking lost that we actually had a striker in the side, they didn't seem to know what to do.
Kev was awful, that shot in to the side netting summed his performance up, Bernardo absolutely invisible, Grealish nothing different from last season, Mahrez, very poor, and Rodri looking totally unfit.
We will have to get used to having Haaland in this side asap, the midfield is key
Thought Bernardo was much better after Kev went off and Gundog played the deep role allowing Bernardo to get further forward. Agree with you though, the passing of the whole midfield was really off yesterday. Rodri had his passes intercepted over and over again.
