We’ve won 6 out of last 8? Really? Drew the two last year and drew at home the year before didnt we? I know they haven’t won as often in the league but thought we had loads of draws and the odd win

Last 8 PL games covers 4 seasons, 3 out of 4 titles in that period, that’s the stat that counts….

No offence Dodge but I wasn’t impressed with Leicester City centre. It looked like a proper s**t hole unless I missed the decent part. Albeit we had a few decent beers in the Globe. Still had a cracking day. Hotel (Holiday Inn) was right near our allocated boozers and it was a 25 min walk to the stadium with a cheeky pint in the Soar boozer en route as well.

Why on earth would a Mancunian take offence at you thinking Leicester's a shithole mate?

Trust me, my mrs is from Leicester and she would agree with you as well. Having said that, we do all our socialising at the Etihad and various drinking establishments in Greater Manchester, so Leicester doesn't really stand a chance in reality. There's a reason why the M1 is full of minibuses and Ubers on a Fri/Sat night, taking the locals to Nottingham and Derby for a decent night out...

We beat them a couple of years ago 4-1 , although I think they had won their one PL title by then.
And we also beat them 5-0 on 2017 ,the game where Mane tried to decapitate Ederson.

Personally, I have always classed the "Charity Shield" as a trophy simply because in order to be in it you have had to win either the League or the FA Cup and they aren't easy to win. It's easier to get into the CL than it is into the Charity Shield! I really don't know why it's not regarded at all.

I watched it yesterday and to be honest, I thought that they deserved the win overall. We looked pretty rusty and that surprised me as I thought we'd be well into our preparations for the new season. I'm not reading too much into it and wondered if part of it was not to show our hand to Klopp.

Ake was unlucky for the goal, but he didn't look entirely comfortable did he? I wasn't too surprised when he had the right-footed Cancelo next to him. Cancelo isn't great defensively and never will be so I hope Pep did it to show the board how much we need a left back. I really hope that we get Cucurella in this week. We can't go into the season without one.

Haaland didn't have much to do and looked slightly off the pace, but you can tell with the touches he had he's going to be a legend. I thought he was trying a bit too hard maybe. Alvarez looked decent too and the finish was good, great anticipation.

At the end of the day, it didn't tell us very much apart from that it will be us and them going for the title again. I expect it to be close, but over a season we will win the title - again.

Beat them 4-0 after their title win at the Etihad then followed it up with a 4-1 win at Anfield.

We've won 3 drawn 3 lost 2 in the last 8 16 goals for and 10 conceded.

It’s not remotely a trophy we should consider adding to “the list”.

It says “for the third successive year.” I remember an Arsenal V United Charity Shield going to penalties once. Arsenal sent up David Seaman for their fifth penalty just for giggles and when his weak shot was saved by Schmeichel to decide it, his reaction was to burst out laughing. Not really the sort of thing you’d expect to see in a major trophy.
