Result meaningless but biggest worry is we aren't quite as ready as Liverpool. Tricky first game in a week doesn't help.

Overall it was pretty sub-par performance, but we did have a decent period in the 2nd half after Foden came on but after the pen we completely collapsed. Expect Foden to start next week instead of Grealish, I still think Mahrez will get nod over Alvarez.

If there was a summer tournament then I see the logic behind having practically no pre-season, but with all the players together from day 1 and no tournament, what excuse do we have for being this unfit? Why do we have to keep playing catch up? Why can’t we just turn up looking ready?

Alvarez looks like he could be a good signing, can see he has been playing football more recently than the rest of the team, we're 3/4 games away from having our passing game back and working out how to play with a forward, feel like we seemed slow at the back though and getting Bernardo, Rodri and Kev to play in the centre in any combination is going to be tough, feel like against teams that keep it wide like the scousers we will struggle.

I don't care about the result so much given our stupid lack of a pre-season so far...but the utter lack of utilization of haaland has really worried me.

We have been awful and those haaland runs have just been almost willfully ignored at times.

So that trophy doesn’t matter? Well it does matter losing to those wankers. They celebrated like they won the bloody World Cup. As with the FA Cup semi-final against them they out hassled us in the first half and we just weren’t at the races. Much better second half but we ran out of steam at the end. We do have this habit against them when we’re 21 down of just opening up far too much at the back so they get three.Hopefully a question of fitness. Too many unforced errors and we still need to learn how to play with Haarland and a number nine. Anyway jog on let’s get the proper season underway and so show people who the champions really are. Great for our kinkladze lookalike Alvarez to get off the mark. have a sneaky suspicion he might be the big signing.
