It's a bit naive blaming the defensive slip solely for the goal. The blame has to go to the system that allowed a single defender back against the strong and cheating Salah. You never saw Liverpool allow us to do this by only keeping one back and encouraging long balls. They played a game designed to stop Haaland getting the ball by keeping players back to block the passing lanes. It worked very well as our total shot count was well down. Everyone knows our team is susceptible to fast breakaways, and Liverpool sought to exploit this. And this they did. They could have even had a couple more, especially the one when they had three strikers to our one defender - only greed and incompetence prevented that goal. We've played Liverpool four times in 2022 and lost three of them and drawn the other. Clearly, we drop our standards against them, as they raise theirs against us. On the home game, we need to be Churchillian Bulldogs and rip into them.
 
Easy one today.
Bernardo Silva. From the very first minute he tore into the mickeys like a amn possessed. Did everything he could to get us into the game and managed a few good digs as well
 
I do love Bernie's passion and he did cover every blade of grass. However he didn't necessarily do anything in possession. Phil had a very quiet start but a very decent 2nd half, Ake and Akanji also decent enough. Eddie's fingertip save was brilliant too.

Kev even when a bit meh can literally change a game in a split second, but did not get into it at all. Gundo didn't get any time on the ball and Rodri had his hands full.

Big ERL not in the game not for want of trying. He was being double teamed sometimes tripled up, conversely we were far too wide open. A missed opportunity against a team on the slide. Despicable vermin fans, as per.

Not that he did anything particularly great on the ball but who did?
 
Ake for me.

Anyone following his thread knows I’m not his biggest fan but he stood up to be counted yesterday which is more than can be said for most.

He’s won me over this season. Another that simply needed a run of games and isn’t suited to plug and play.
