Liverpool - post match thread.

Very disappointed with yet another defeat against those tossers but mark my words, Pep will make us unbeatable eventually, however long it takes, we've got to keep faith with him he will turn us into an amazing team. Pellegrini had a great first season then it was all downhill from there. With Pep it will be the other way round.

Was delighted to get Pep - anyone after the last passenger - but I said at the time Klopp was the perfect fit for us but unfortunately our top brass were all dewy eyed for Pep.
But Pep it was and I thought it would be a bumpy ride - but at least I thought he'd learn from his mistakes - not keep on making the same ones.

I dare anybody to tell me they have seen an improvement since Pep took charge.

Not seen any evidence myself of the supposed tactical genius, we are so easy to play against it is just awful to watch.

Happy New Year fellow Blues see you all on Monday against Burnley.

If we really are serious about winning anything this season, we better be busy during the transfer window...We'll win nothing with Zab and Kolarov starting every week! All that spending in the summer and we still look toothless going forward....Happy New Year all!!
Agreed... we need them now or else we could even finish outside the top 4.

Best manager in the world my arse, everyone saying oh he needs his players in to play his style etc, well conte inherited a squad and guess what sussed out a style to suit the team rather than his style, pep needs to try and deal with what he has like most decent managers do

Garbage. The defence is a shambles. Kolarov, Otamendi and the clown in goal should not be at the club

You can't expect to get a result at a place like Anfield when KDB, Aguero and Yaya don't even get off the coach

Sorry to say but Pep is the right man at the wrong time. He's only here for 3 seasons and that is nowhere near enough time to build the team he wants

I think he knows this and would not be surprised if he stays longer. I agree this is going to take more than one season to put right for any manager.

That 10 minute period in the 2nd half we needed to score i felt, i wasn't too confident given our record there however the hope i clung onto was the pep factor and in the end it seems it doesn't matter who's in charge we will never get a result there. Happy new year blues!

I hope our current style is not going to be repeated next season as it really belongs to a decade earlier and unfortunately has no place in the modern game

He needs another transfer window for sure but things have got to start changing sooner rather than later, slow build up play no pace in the opposition half very few quality balls into the box is a worrying statistic that is getting repeated to often

We didn't play dogshite. We were utter dogshite in both these fixtures last season, and no messing. We just weren't quite good enough. Did Liverpool impress you? Honestly? Bravo had absolutely nothing to do after the goal. Pep won't be winning any trophies this season. It'll come good , though. One big grouse, however. Substitutions at that point was taking the piss. It was a throwback to what Mancini and Pellegrini used to do. I wouldn't have credited Pep with that kind of throw-of-the-dice behaviour.

Too early to blame Pep because these players have showed the same amount of appetite last season and the season before. Physically they look weak, not prepared to put the hard yards in to close down or take any responsibility.

The 2012 side arguably on paper was much weaker with the likes of Lescott, Johnson, Richards but it was physically imposing, organised and had a number of different options such of how to score goals.

We now have a side of midgets, with only one way of playing and a number of players who, although technically excelkent, are not prepared to fight, challenge to win posession are stop the other side from playing.

pity on Aguero. i can see why he seem frustrated,
lack of service, and no one to play with.
he must be missing Negredo.
City need to play with 2 striker.
now i missed the charming man pellegrini, lol

Sadly, it was exactly what I expected. Boring, flat, slow, predictable, aimless football. Again. We improved 2nd half but they had 1 shot on target and won the game. One.

I read somewhere recently that the manager doesn't go in the dressing room before the game. This, for me, is the single reason for us being slow starters if true. I also think we need to stop treating games like they're training sessions. We started well today for the first 3/4 minutes and then it went to shit. We can't defend, can't create, won't shoot and lack passion and desire. Time after time it seems as though teams want it more than we do.

Guardiola needs time, however, he's one stubborn bloke, maybe he's earned the right to be, but this is shite. Proper shite.

We need to play quickly. When we do, we score goals, we frighten teams and we can get through them. I could have played in that game today.

Boring.

This might be off topic and I never really say this kind of thing, but mancinis side would of pissed that game today. Probably the worst Liverpool performance we will face in years. Pep is struggling big time.

Well we were outclassed, outfought and beaten badly, completely out of the game well before full time.
In both league fixtures last year.

This time, with practically the same team and against a Liverpool team in better shape, and despite the shock of an early goal conceded, not so much.

Could do better?
Yes.

But if the team improved half as much over the next year as we already saw today, that will be enough.

Add Gabriel jesus, Sane and younger, fitter full backs and we will see how they cope.

That's how I saw it too. Maybe I'm a daft happy clapper but some of the negative responses in this thread seem over the top to me.

GK is shite.....replace immediately. Jumped sideways on the spot WTF, never saves anything near a post EVER! Striker for Aguero to play off too, maybe Jesus 2 will solve that.

Poor poor Gabriel Jesus, coming into this club at this time after such a positive year. We're clueless and He's going to be given no help whatsoever.

Txiki and Pep, do us a favour, either give Jesus a platform to build on, so he can become the best, buy the players to make it possible and come up with a plan. Or, just do one and get someone in who will.

I think the worst thing you can say about us is that we are just boring. We are genuinely dull to watch. We have become the team that Van Gaal was slated by the rags for being. Lots and lots of possession with minimal end product, relying on the odd moments of brilliance from de Bruyne/Mata, Aguero/Rooney, Sterling/Martial, Iheanacho/Rashford to get us 3 points.
I've said this to a mate. We really aren't that good to watch. However, we were bad to watch last season as well. It's a managerial miracle to make us look this boring with the attacking talent we have.
