Liverpool - post match thread.

I thought a draw was a fair result actually, both sides missed big chances to win it, and Cabellero made some smart saves throughout. It was very important not to lose, as it will be against Arsenal. The Lallana chance was almost as bad as the Sterling one, and Aguero missed a couple towards the end. I'm fine with a point based on the display.

I do think we got a few things wrong to put on that display though. We were fortunate that Liverpool couldn't capitalise at 1-0 when we looked dead on our feet, and bringing Sagna on changed the game because we finally had some energy where it mattered - I still can't understand why we didn't start that way? Toure is not the man for this type of game, hasn't been for years either.

Im convinced this side will improve ten-fold when we get new fullbacks who can defend, Clichy has been way below par this season, and we don't even want to play our RB's. None of them really work in this type of system, and thankfully they're at the end of their careers.

Honestly dreading the derby. I'm struggling to even imagine how ridiculous the refereeing will be, given the refs treatment of us and them.

We just cant put teams away which is really frustrating.

Though Stones and Otamendi were excellent and Dinho put in a shift and a half.

Biggest concern for me though is the full backs. Clichy was really poor again and WTF was Sagna doing when he came on? He was woeful. Fullbacks HAVE to be a priority in the summer

Clichy didnt foul Firminio at all. He gets the ball which makes it fair. Clichy cant just stop after running and kicking the ball.
So that doesn't make it a penalty? He touches the ball, not cleared it, which is still in Firmino s possession and after he faults him. I think it was a penalty. We had 2 penalties as well, but we played so poorly that I can't blame the ref for the result.

There's no way Redknapp and Souness would be saying Mané should have had a penalty over a coming together like that, it happens to Sterling and Aguero so often and I've seen them saying "Oh there's nothing in that... just a coming together". I still think Clichy gets the ball before taking the man out but it was a little clumbsy just in the context of them missing two fouls in one attack with Aguero and Sterling, you don't give it for one that could go either way(could easily have justified not giving it I mean).

Mike Riley is sat at home with a glass of wine obviously Red. Thinking my boys have done it again well done Michael Oliver you stopped City just like Anthony Taylor and Andrex Marriner just to name but a few

Happy with the point but oh my Sergio's finishing is abysmal and wtf is pep going on about proudest day of his career

Clichy and Sagna are beyond shit. Honestly am sick and tired of the referee decisions as well. Sterling incident was as stonewall a penalty as it can get, the ref can see it. Milner should have been off too. Tackle from behind, right through Sterling and preventing a goal scoring opportunity. Instead we get nothing again... and then they get a penalty.

I keep hearing clumsy challenge etc but its a contact sport ffs.

Clichy plays the ball, end of and it isnt a penalty!

Like I said, we as fans love the guy, he has been maybe the best striker that I have eve seen in a blue shirt but I just think that Pep doesn't really trust him. Nothing would please me more than seeing him here next season and beyond. I just have my doubts that he will be and while I can't argue that he has 7 goals in 7 games is could and should have been more.

you are purely going off your thoughts

there is absolutely nothing to suggest Pep doesn't trust him......if that was the case nolito or Kelechi would be playing...sane could be playing more central.

The other FACT that you missed out conveniently when saying we would have beat Monaco and pool today if he had scored was the slightly irrupting one of that if we could defend better (esp against Monaco) we would have still won...it works both ways yet some are conveniently choosing to ignore this and not he back of a very decent team performance are choosing to have a go at the guy who without we would have lost

KDB was awful defensively today. (amazing cross for the goal though)..balls passing him in central midfield all game. and giving the ball away numerous times....Sane not tracking back at times....Yaya being poor defensively on a couple of occasions......all of this contributes to us winning/losing a game.....not just a striker missing a goal...

What about Adam Llanna missing an open goal....what about ferna missing a near open net at the back post...Kdb hitting the post........

Pep needs to be making a bigger issue of the incompetence/bias of the refs that has cost us this season in his post match pressers. Even if he has to take a fine or two. By continuing to be polite and benign only allows them to keep getting away with it.

It worked perfectly for Moaninho earlier in the season who made all the focus fall on the referees decisions. Looking at how they have benefitted from refs since Christmas, all those fines he paid have proved to be a worthwhile investment.

Happy with the point but oh my Sergio's finishing is abysmal and wtf is pep going on about proudest day of his career

Sergio scored again to add to his incredible record and Pep is rightly proud of the players who gave everything out there today.

Fair enough

i cant believe moe people aren't excited about the possibility of them both playing in the starting 11.....two real goal threats on the pitch and Kun has shown he is learning how to be interchangeable......running the channels constantly today, dropping deep and linking the play up..

Get those two firing together and defences are going to have a nightmare for a season or two

The funny thing is, get the points City should've against Chelsea, Spurs and Pool forget about two missed PK vs Everton, etc and points would've been Chelsea 66 and City 64.
