Liverpool - post match thread.

We are predictably shit in front of goal and it's become the norm, we have one out and out goal scorer in the team and the rest flatter to deceive, Sterling is a shocking finisher for the positions he gets in- it's almost as if he's a defender trying to clear it but somehow puts it in his own net- how the fuck did he not put that chance in first half?

Replacing Sergio for Jesus isn't the answer- both need to play if we are going to score anything like enough goals for us to win the PL or CL, you just can't rely on Silva, Sterling or Sane for that fact to be consistent goal scorers- who drops out next season is s big call unless we have a top top drawer three in defence .

It wasn't surprising at all that they scored whether it be a penalty or open play - Willy pulled us out of the shit today along with NO and Stonesie.

Mate he was brilliant and yet again he was the one who scored and saved a point for the team.

Yes he missed chances but at least he consistently scores aswell. Ran the channels tirelessly and continually pressed.

His all round play was ok but like you say, his finishing wasn't great overall as it hasn't been all season.

Players other than Aguero really have to start weighing in with goals, we just don't have many natural finishers in the squad.

Great game but looking back and agreeing with Pep, we should have won this one at least 4-2. Onto the next games to cement a top four finish.

Stones by the way was excellant

Calmed down a little. Generally thought everyone played well despite looking knackered for most of it.

Sergio and Dav lost their heads a little in front of goal, Sane was a little quiet and for once Kev was more effective on the wing - might need to keep him there for a while. Yaya was great until his legs went (minus a couple of minutes).

Other than one sloppy pass I thought Stones had a great game and had Clichy not slipped and panicked it would have been one of his better games.

Pep post match pc made me fall in love with him again after being so annoyed with his selection on Wednesday.

We will become less profligate in front of goal and when Gunda and Gabs come back will have some strength in depth to allow us to change things up in games.

The future's blue ladies and gentlemen!

Love them both but Silva/De Bruyne are punching below their weight in front of goal. Should both be in double figures every season.

Exactly. Let's take a look at the top sides

Real - Benzema Ronaldo Bale all score
Barca - Neymar Suarez Messi all score
Bayern - Robben Ribery Lewandowski all score

We've just not got anyone apart from Kun that can do it consistently.

in few years time sterling and sane will be at that level. those players are world class, some of the best ever tbf.

I listened on 5 live as am away with work - I expected the Liverpool pen to have been cast iron the way they were going on about it. I've now seen it a few times and it very soft indeed.

The whole game Green and Lily were giving us stick for booing Milner. I've never heard anyone sticking up for Sterling when he's booed at every ground he plays at!

The only one in the whole game which was a definite pen was the Milner one on Sterling.

It was an opportunity missed to consolidate top 4 position. We are now looking over our shoulders at the Rags.

I have confidence Pep will get it right and next season with three new defenders, a couple of central mids and a new striker or two. Pierre E-A and Lacazatte should be top of the list. One of them and a fit Jesus should hopefully sort out our finishing problems. KDB is obviously tired and needs a rest.

The omission of Kompany is a strange as he's still our best defender when fit. Pep obviously sees this season as being about building for the future. As Kompany is not seen as a long-term solution perhaps he sees it as pointless to play him when he won't be around next season. It's a shame as his presence could have been invaluable paeticularly in Europe and if he breaks down again then at least we've given him every chance. I would hate to see him go and be a success at another club which he could do if he stays fit. I think he was last on the bench v Spurs two months ago - what exactly has changed since then?

Pep said today was one of the best days of his life in post-match interview. Wtf? Just giving the "Fraudiola" crew ammunition.
