Reports on radio saying that if the sale doesnt go through in time and the banks calls the debt in meaning the holding company entering administration, the Premier League will NOT deduct any points?

Surely the rules are administration means points deductions?

Is the double standards guys?

Acid test of the independence of the FAPL.

All that being said I suspect that Liverpool may be denied a European licence in any case ;-)

Their supposed get out clause is that yes, the holding company is in administration but Liverpool Fc is a solvent company and as such, no points deduction.

Never heard so much bollox in all my life and if they are so solvent, they should pay the banks back in full and on time.

Strictly speaking, the debt is on the holding company, Kop Holdings, and that's the company that would go into administration. however as they only have one asset, which is LFC, then it's a specious argument.

Re: Liverpool Takeover Imminent?

With any luck they won't be needing a European licence anyway. The dippers squad isn't top 7 material.

Would be an interesting one if it does happen and would surely set up a precedent of all clubs claiming the same argument from now on if they allow it.

Also would be interesting to see what clubs that have suffered points deductions have to say...

The Portsmouth situation made it clear that that is a false position.

I also read today that Liverpool owe about £100m to other clubs.

Lets extrapolate from that that Liverpool FC own the player and that it was funded by the club directly then what the hell have H and G done with such an amateurish arrangement?

Perhaps the players are also owned by the holding company? Third party ownership?

I wouldnt put anything past these jokers

There are very few if any clubs where the debt is directly on the football plc rather than a holding company or separate subsidiary of the holding company.

Re: Liverpool Takeover Imminent?

Southampton had the same issue with a holding company IIRC.

Result - points deduction.

Thanks PB and just goes to show what a cover up and fix this would be and as moomba quite rightly states, Southampton = points deduction!

I wonder if other premier league chairmen of relegation threatened teams would take it further should the need arise?
