Liverpool Takeover (Merged)

Re: Liverpool Takeover Imminent?

What are the odds on both new bids ruling themselfs out by this weekend. I would doubt there even is a bid for Liverpool. They are trying to pimp there club out to anyone desperate to throw away millions on them.

Re: Liverpool Takeover Imminent?

And so it begins.

Liverpool Football Club tonight issued the following press statement:

The Board of Directors have received two excellent financial offers to buy the Club that would repay all its long-term debt. A Board meeting was called today to review these bids and approve a sale. Shortly prior to the meeting, the owners - Tom Hicks and George Gillett - sought to remove Managing Director Christian Purslow and Commercial Director Ian Ayre from the Board, seeking to replace them with Mack Hicks and Lori Kay McCutheon.

This matter is now subject to legal review and a further announcement will be made in due course.

Meanwhile Martin Broughton, Christian Purslow and Ian Ayre continue to explore every possible route to achieving a sale of the Club at the earliest opportunity.

That was always the one question no-one could answer; can the 'ordinary' board members really force a sale?

This one will run and run kids. The yanks are effectively fighting for tens, if not hundreds, of millions of pounds.

Re: Liverpool Takeover Imminent?

H&G trying to kick off board members and get a majority - sounds like the last deperate act of beaten men and the death throes of their reign (goddammit!)

Always thought this one would end up with some kind of dispute, not least because it's very unclear how the RBS appointees can force H&G to sell.

And remember that they aren't just shareholders, they are also creditors. Sure, the bank is in a strong position, but they have a big holdout position and can make things very, very awkward. Which of course they will do-why wouldn't they?

I have been saying that it will end up in court for months but my POV was given no credence by some posters on here.

Ahh well its gonna be fun watching this happening to a club thats NOT City.
