Liverpool Thread 2011/12

Re: Liverpool Thread 2012

Ray Houghton on Talkshite moaning how people see getting in the top 4 as success now, & that it is wrong. He just said in his day finishing 2nd would have been a failure, what is finishing 8th then you tool?

Re: Liverpool Thread 2012

So they've got rid of Comolli, the Communications Director, King Kenny and are supposedly looking at getting rid of the MD Ian Ayre as well. But apart from that they've opted for stability at senior level. And they haven't got the new stadium yet so it's all clearly going according to plan.

Looking at RAWK it's starting to dawn on the more perceptive ones that they've replaced Hicks & Gillett with another bunch of clueless Yank clowns, rather than the knights in shining armour they thought they were getting. FSG are the new Venky's and Liverpool are the new Aston Villa, with history and fuck all else.

I was also reading the Andersred blog the other day. He's a rag but an extremely financially clued-up one (I think it's his brother that has just taken over Rangers) and he did a piece on LFC a couple of weeks ago that basically said they've used all the cash FSG put in, aren't generating a surplus and would therefore have to go into debt to fund further large scale player purchases.

But it's definitely going to be their year next year as they're only 2 players short of a title and CL winning team.

Moyes. Dear God Please be Moyes.

I honestly think he would be the best man for the job but do not think the kop would agree

Re: Liverpool Thread 2012

You hear all the time that it was Liverpool's home form that cost them
Well if they'd turned 6 of their 9 home draws into wins, they'd still only have finished on the same points as Chelsea and everyone's saying about how shit a season they've had.
As a Liverpool supporter said in a thread congratulating us on winning the league, "44 years is a long wait and we're (Liverpool) about to reach the halfway mark"

You sound like someone straight out of RAWK and I find your opinions to be incredibly daft. FSG have taken the exact same approach our Abu Dhabi owner have in this entire takeover process. Give the fans what they want. Whether it was old guard or new guard. Supply the club with funds to succeed. Track closely.

As for Liverpool going into debt, this is laughable in the same pretense of Manchester City being in debt. The term "debt" is relative in the pretense of its own decided outcomes. FSG are a wealthy and well-connected group. Whose advisors have more experience in successful sporting ventures (even those outside of USA) than our own owners.

FSG are the new Venky's? When was the last time the Venky's invested 100 mil and maintained the likes of Steve Kean through relegation? FSG are being proactive. Like you said yourself, they are one or two players away from the top 4. But judging by Dalglish's history in the transfer market can you honestly say he's capable of making the right buys? This is the man who spent 35 million pounds on Andy Carroll.

I think you've rushed to judgement. I actually think a lot of people on here have. This was an incredibly smart move from above.

Right, that's it.

Anyone copying and pasting press releases/statements that are ALREADY ON HERE, will get a day off. Same goes for anyone who can't be arsed writing anything more constructive than "fuck off FSG" or similar. Yes, you're pissed off. But we're not exactly dancing the tango here, either.

Engage the brain before posting.

This thread will now be locked for an hour so it can be washed and ironed.
