I'd be confident that when the media tally up the GPC's trophy haul, they include the Shield.

If you look at pretty much any list of total numbers of trophies clubs have won, it tends to be included. The fact United have 20 of them and it puts their total ahead of Liverpool is why United fans are keen to include it.
