With all the signings they been making over the last few weeks, is it the case that they absolutely must sell Suarez to have any chance of passing FFP? If so, then that would suggest that they've been planning to since long before the latest Bitegate incident.

I'm sure they've known since last summer, from when he agreed to sign a new contract, that he would be going. It was obvious. The only bit that surprises me is that so many of them still can't (or won't) see that they were only ever a stepping stone to bigger and better things.

I'd like to re-ask the question I raised a few pages ago.

Would Liverpool have a cat in hell's chance of passing FFP without selling Suarez? If not, then they must have been planning to sell him since the end of last season with or without the latest scandal.

Yes they would I think. Their first two sets of accounts would have seen them fail FFP but they don't have to submit them until sometime in the next week. Based on that, they will have to submit the third year of accounts in October and, by using the wage exemption for players under contract prior to June 2010, they should scrape through. They should then be OK after that, even without the sale of Suarez.

Bummer. I'll have to think of something else to wind up Scousers with then.

Shouldn't be too difficult I suppose.

Whoa! What were the chances of that happening? Thanks for your answer!!

Edit: just seen what time you posted your message. Not sure how I missed it just now.

It was a given that he would move IF Real Madrid or Barca came in for him

I changed user names, so I'm still on probation. You can't get a mod to work on a Sunday so there's a big time lag after I post. So, no, you're not losing it!

Di Marzio is saying they have bid €25m for Markovic.
€25m for him?!?! Oh dear, Liverpool has some shit negotiation going on.. Lallana £25m, Lovren possibly £20m, and now €25m (£20m) for Markovic who is quite unproven. thats about £55m spent on second tier stuff. + Lambert who isn't world class either or even close to it for £4m. so £59m spent on second tier players. £20m for a player who has had only 1 season in Portuguese league.

They're doing a Spurs. Selling a world class match winner and replacing him with shite.
