So I guess it's official already: Starfish will never win the Premier League. Good.

Its a shame that Gerrard will be leaving the Prem as he is one of the legends of it and in his day was an unstoppable machine that could turn a game on his own that said the way he played does not suit an older man and it has been telling this season that its getting away from him. I also think he is fed up with the inept Rodgers telling him where he is going wrong when he has more talent in his left toe than Rodgers ever possessed
I've said it before and I'll say it again: at his peak, he was playing out on the wing. He did quite well there, to be fair but truly great players do not get re-assigned to make room for Lucas, let alone Momo Sissokho (or whatever his real name was).
Gerard was a very good player but, like Beckham, his legacy is very much gilded by the daily Sky wankfests that marked his career, to the point of re-writing history. Ask anybody under a certain age and they'll insist that it was Gerrard who inspired the Istanbul comeback. In actual fact, it was Benitez replacing the inept Harry Kewell with Didi Hamaan that turned the game. But hey, where's the all-singing, all-dancing, English hero in that narrative?

If you want a laugh then the Stevie Me thread on RAWK is great value at the moment -Jeez it is a full on Scousefest and they haven't been this upset since the BBC stopped showing 'The Liver Birds' on TV in 1979. There isn't a candle to be bought in the whole of Scouseland at the moment as they are all burning brightly.

There are lots of posts in this mould:
“Didn't think this would hurt as much as it does. Love the guy and will never forget him and the countless great moments he gave me. Going to enjoy every last minute of his time with us. Living legend”

This one summed up the Scouse psyche for me:
“Got up this morning and could hear crying in the lounge. My 7 yr old is sitting on the couch in his liverpool kit watching SSN and crying his eyes out. How do I begin to explain it to him? Got me going too and I'm 40. He's sitting watching YouTube videos now and keeps coming and hugging me”

This is my absolute favourite:
“For me RAWK and some of its writers are the Bible of writing. Can we please have a thread dedicated exclusively to the personal write ups on Steven Gerrard. We have some really really great amazing superior writers here and the readers of RAWK will have the privilege of living those Stevie G memories in their mesmerising words”
Probably best they don't have a look at the league table today as well then

I'm sure that when the initial fuss dies down the player, club, media and fans will treat his departure in a restrained, understated and dignified manner.

Fucking sick and tired of the word legend being bandied about. He was a one club man who may or may have gone on to greatness and legendary status had he moved on - won titles - maybe travelled abroad but legend??????? He was no Di Stfano, Eusabio, Pele, Maldini, Maradonna or Ronaldo to name a few - a legend on Murkeyside only in my view.

As for the RAWK a-weepin and a-wailin' - fucking priceless - pissing myself here - the whole Bin Dipper cult has now become very very sinister - anybody got snaps of wreaths being laid at Klanfield to mark the passingof their Lord Stevieeee Geeeeeee..........???

Never liked him. For some reason I once read his autobiography and he came across as a complete twat. Also factor in the Gbh and the fact he is the epitome of Scouse rat and it cheers me that he never won the premier league!!

We go again!
