I reckon he will compare much worse to the Chelsea and United title winning teams who were built on solid defences rather than attacking football. Terry, Vidic, Stam ect.

Nah that's just how the PL player comparison works, I made that comparison... he basically said in the tweet I posted: "name me a better CB in PL history, I'll wait", in the history of the PL he says?

In terms of actual defensive contributions Kompany is way out in front(bar aerial duels) in that comparison, with 5 fewer games. Compare him to some of Terry, Vidic and so on's best seasons and he gets nowhere near them.

NBCSN have just shown an interview with Arlo White and Virgil van Dijk where vD is talking about going again next year if they win nothing this season. He didn’t seem confident when talking about winning anything this season.
