I'm assuming the players would have flown back last night, prob got back after midnight. Does anyone know if they would be given a day off or would they push back training into the afternoon? Either way not much prep time between then and tomorrow afternoon when they will need to travel to newc..

They were staying over. Klopp said it was back to the hotel for a rest. Fly back today, prepare Friday.

I'm still fairly confident Wolves will turn up for the last game of season and totaly fuck their party up but i've had that thought for the last few months.

If we beat Leicester, then Wolves also have little to play for (assuming they win at home against Fulham).

Reading some of the bile being directed at Rafa over on squawk really is an eye opener, the manager
they lauded a few years ago is now a fat ****, he's a fucking arsehole, manages a team of useless twats,
and on and on. I can't see any blue referring to a successful employee in such a derogatory manner, they've
got to have some of the vilest fans in football.

They could be a bit leg weary from last night's efforts which I think increases Newcastle's chances of getting something slightly but Liverpool have been relentless in the league for weeks and haven't dropped any points since they played Everton away. I've been saying for weeks that we'll need to win all our remaining games to clinch the title and I still stand by that.

I know people are saying Liverpool have bottled it by relinquishing a 7 point lead (10 when we had a game in hand over the festive period), but it's only because we've won 12 in a row since the Newcastle defeat that it looks like more of a bottle job. In reality they've lost a tight game at ours, and drawn 4 other games against Leicester, West Ham, United, and Everton - all tricky looking games. The one game I would pinpoint as being the eipitome of a bottle job was when they had a glorious opportunity to increase that lead back to 7 points after Newcastle beat us when playing Leicester at home the following night, and blew it.

If Liverpool don't win it, it's far less of an implosion than Newcastle's in 1996 and United's in 2012

I agree they had a blip which caused draws when they had the chance to go well clear.

I think apart from the couple of draws (Leicester, WHU), the other big change was not having more of a go at Utd.

They'll be disappointed if they finish 2nd, but 97 pts for 2nd wouldn't have been considered plausible 5 years ago.

I always thought they loved Benitez.

I thought Liverpool played really well last night and were just taken apart in a short spell of brilliance by Barca. It reminded me of our previous defeats there. Perhaps they were a bit naive. Sometimes things just don't go your way (like us against Spurs) Whatever most of us may think about elements of their fanbase there can be few doubts about the quality of their team. If we win the league this year (back-to-back) by beating them it will be our greatest achievement so far, especially with injuries to key players like KDB, Ferdy, Sergio, and David Silva's prolonged absence (plus no official left back)

Not any more mate, in true dipper fashion he's now to be reviled and shunned.
A bit like what happened to their god Shankley, who was given the cold shoulder and heave-ho from their
training ground and club, this time with the invective piled on to make sure he gets the message.
I really hope Rafa reads their offerings, it most certainly won't make him let Toon roll over.

Oh I don't know, Pellers gets some shit in here at times. But yeah I do take your point.

I agree, but I can't see them relishing being thumped by Liverpool in their last home game of the season, that's got to mean something.

And the fact they've had the Collymore goal rammed down their throats for 20 odd years after losing out on the title, revenge is in the offing................

So in the second leg, it would be absolutely awful if they played really well, got an early goal, then had a shocking decision just before half time that robs them from going 2-0 up and having a genuine chance, before an iffy Barca goal puts the tie to bed.

Awful.

Funnily enough, I said almost the same thing to someone here this morning. If Dembele had scored at the end, it would have been done, but 3-0 allows hope to exist.

I can’t imagine ANY Blue throwing such horrible, vile insults at either Roberto or Manuel.

Mind you, both of them won us the League, whereas Benitez didn’t do so for Liverpool.
Are you sure? You only need to through old threads from the time on here to find evidence of how common it was for Pellers to be called senile, old twat, lizard eyed and no end of other things.

If we win, having won fourteen on the spin, you can’t properly characterise Liverpool as choking. Their form all season has been incredible.
