We could have had a VHS in 1986 as we did qualify for the Eoropean cup that year but we were banned due to no fault of our own, never mind. Steaua Bucharest won it that year, I remember as a certain teams fans kept making banners laughing about it . No idea who though?

And this is why I am glad I am an Evertonian and not a cult member

And the VHS shout is a weird one. We’ve got stacks of VHS, DVD and Blu Ray coverage yet I wouldn’t say the same stacks up your side. No worries though, it’s a lovely day so enjoy your weekend.

I don’t need jarg medals or photies or any of it. The memories of the days out all over are all I need. I was at Anfield for the Campbell derby and remember it well, Stan Staunton ending up in goal. Not as much as I remember the 20 years or so of derbies after though, the list is endless.

I remember Everton winning the league 1984/85 season and had a great chance of winning the European cup..but were barred from entering for some reason.

That’s true. Tell me though, with a team that had the quality they did, can you please explain why post 1985, they only won one trophy (two if you count the CS) until they won one again in 1995? Surely a team as great as that should have been mopping up trophies regardless of whether they were in Europe or not. We weren’t in there yet were stacking trophies up left right and centre.
The line that Everton would have gone to conquer Europe forever and a day is one of the biggest myths surrounding them. They had a great team but couldn’t assert any sustained dominance in England. They weren’t far away, granted, but not this all conquering team of supermen.
