Liverpool thread 2020/21

The way it's calculated is every decision that has involved VAR that has had a negative outcome.

Dale's explanation as to why it counts as a negative is due to the unusual nature of it; it's to clear it up for people who'd wonder why when there was no obvious reason compared to the other reasons listed above.

It's extremely rare for the referee to not agree with VAR.

Just going off of this earlier tweet, it's extraordinarily unlikely that on over 80 occasions the ref has ignored VAR to give a decision against a team like we saw with Liverpool yesterday.

He also includes this...

Obviously what counts as a subjective decision is...well...subjective, but other than the debatable ones, if the VAR decisions are right, then the number of VAR decisions for and against is irrelevant. As you say, the fact that so many decisions get overturned suggests that they're more likely to get incorrect decisions in their favour by the on-field referee.

Went into a card shop today and tossed up between "Get Well Soon" or "Sorry You Are Leaving" to send to Klopp. At the end of the day I decided not to waste my money.

This is great reading.
They have gone from a unstoppable force and a start of a destiny to a team struggling to make top 4 in a matter of months lol.
Injuries and cheating City have pissed on their parade.

The "PL run in" thread was previously titled "Attacking #20"

I keep on hearing and reading that "City can go on a run of games" at any point.

Last season, did they manage to string 4 consecutive wins together? Are they better than last season, they currently look worse?

I also disagree with the idea that they were unlucky, ache we were lucky last season - based on the "underlying numbers". We were streets ahead of them last season, they didn't even offer a challenge.

Liverpool are undoubtedly better this season. The players have had another year of Klopp's coaching, they now know how to win the league, age we've made a few very astute signings. City haven't improved. They've stagnated. I'd be far more surprised if city finish above (or even close to) us, than if they manage to finish outside the top 2. I still think they will finish second, as there doesn't seem to be anyone to seriously challenge them. But they don't seem to be closing that gap that we've opened up over the last 12 months+.

hes right, we aren’t close to them :)

Carragher's argument appears to be that TTA didn't mean to foul him so it cannot be a penalty. Well I would say that a lot of fouls, the player doesn't mean to give away a foul. So if you don't mean to foul it's no free kick. Bollox.
That’s why he didn't get a red card. Definitely stopped a goal scoring opportunity intentional or not

Has it been confirmed that the VAR thought the penalty should be overturned? Because, as someone pointed out on the Match thread, it would make more sense that he was telling the referee to check for a possible red card. That would mean this particular decision went FOR Liverpool, not against them.
That was me and im not so sure anymore. Doesn't it normally say what the VAR ref is checking for? If he had been checking for a red then I am sure it would have been mentioned
