FSG don’t take a penny out of Liverpool, they never have. They make money on the equity of the club in the same way you would if you have a property portfolio. They buy things, pump money into them and then use them to leverage new acquisitions. Believe me when I say that a lot of people will acknowledge they’ve been brilliant off the pitch but don’t have a fucking clue on it. Any success during their time has been in spite of them, not attributable to them. Their fanboys point out they brought us Klopp. True, but he picks the players to play, not them. Only twice in nine years or so have they gone above and beyond in the market by making real statement signings. To clarify here, I don’t mean that we have to spend mega dough on every single player. But when you’re told that you can compete with anyone in the world, their general parsimony is inescapable. I’m not against budget signings or anything like that either, value comes in all shapes and sizes. However the centre half situation should have been addressed on the 1st of January, not the 31st. I didn’t expect the likes of Upamecano to arrive but I don’t believe the likes of Davies were anywhere near his first choice. The story that Minamino went out on loan to reduce the wage bill is pretty grim too if unsubstantiated.
I’ve said on here many times that our fans have very low opinions of owners and our current ones at their worst have been diabolical. The £77 briefs and trying to copywrite the word Liverpool were two heavy lows. And there’s plenty more. My point though is that I know it’s common here to be nothing less than super fan towards the owners but we’ll never trust ones ever again. I support the team and manager 100% but I have no loyalty to FSG whatsoever. Would smash John Henry’s missus though, she’s magnifico.
