EsPN journo has said that VAR didn't look at the challenge.

It couldn't have been a penalty beacuse it was offside.

If viewed as violent conduct or serious foul play, it could have been a red card. It looks to me to be the type of challenge that would be a sending off according to how things are reffed.

It couldn't have been a penalty, so they couldn't review it for that. As I understand it, serious foul play can still be reviewed - like you, just my understanding which could be wrong.
