Not according to Micah Richard’s on the Rest is Football Pod -the Atmosphere was brilliant as usualThe anfield atmosphere is a myth
They only sing their bollocks anthem just before the KO - and the media make the most of it
Rest of the time it's a lot quieter than the Etihad
Akanji last season was penalised in the home game for a 'foul' on Alisson before Dias put the ball in the net, take it this is not the Akanji incident being referred to?
I think Burnley got one in early 2021 when the stadium was empty post covid and beat them 1-0.Anyone have the stats on when an opposition team was last awarded a penalty at Anfield? Maresco's post-match comments were much the same as Pep after the Milner non-red card debacle when he said "this is Anfield".
I am wondering if Mahrez's in 2018 (which is still travelling towards Mars on last reports) was the last one.
Well - i have been there more often than he hasNot according to Micah Richard’s on the Rest is Football Pod -the Atmosphere was brilliant as usual
I’ll second that.Well - i have been there more often than he has
So I am calling bollocks on that
Same here. Not even Liverpool fans think the atmosphere is brilliant, Apart from a handful of big games Anfield is like a morgue and has been for decades. The Anfield atmosphere is one of the biggest myths in football. It was incredibly loud there in the 70s and 80s but not since.Well - i have been there more often than he has
So I am calling bollocks on that
Someone ain't happy ha ha ha
It’s not a myth for big games. Most weeks Anfield is the same as any other stadium in the country. But there’s not a better atmosphere for big games than Anfield simply because the Kop with its 12,000+ deep one tier and low deep roof helps boom out a massive noise and it’s easy for the rest of the ground to join in with whatever is sung. The anfield atmosphere is a myth
