Even if it is offensive dragging someone through the court system for a perceived slight is an abomination, and it's a bit fucking preachy and moralistic from a police officer who should just be doing her job and not handing out lessons in how to live.
the world went mad when they decided to make being offensive a crime, being offended is an entirely subjective thing and has everything to do with who you are as a person, everyone can be offended by different things or not offended at all, the liverpool accent offends me and causes great distress to my ears and sensibilities but i wouldnt expect them to be arrested for it.

Look, I think Alexander-Arnold is a tosser, but it’s clear to see the media hatchet job Liverpool are already undertaking ahead of his potential departure. Two articles in two days - one about being wank against United, and one now about the toxicity of the situation.

Imagine how many articles our players would have had for a bad game in these last two months!?

not really when you look at his stats most of his seasons have been between 18 and 22 goals which dont get me wrong is consistent and good for a pl striker but not really a freakish season, his standout was 32 goals in 2017-18 season, he is a good player with the red media behind him which skews the narrative somewhat, bit like the myth that rashford is a 30 goal a season striker.

he's better than good

He was genuinely one of the very best in the world around 2019/2020 in my opinion

Can't stand his club but don't mind admitting when a player is brilliant. He's been one of the best Premier league players in the last 10 years, along with some of our own.

His Premier League scoring rate is pretty much the same as Aguero and that's often playing less central.

thats a fair opinion but from a personal standpoint i dont think between 18-20 goals a seaon for a pl striker who also takes penalties is freakish, its very consistent and very good but not freakish.

How do they prove it, unless they are stood in front of them with a camera rolling? If you’re in the middle of a thousand people how the fuck do they know what you’re saying? Any decent solicitor would get this thrown out and do them for wrongful arrest.
Unfortunately, you've just answered your own question. They have undercover spotters all over the away end at Anfield waiting for the moment and yes, those arrested and charged will have video evidence against them. I just posted this in the United thread regarding my mate who got lifted there last season, but it also belongs here as well. They laughably wanted to give him a 3 year Football Banning Order - you know, where you have to surrender your passport on match days, etc, and all that bollocks - which is usually only reserved for top shelf football hooligans. He paid a fair whack for a decent solicitor and got a lot of the case including the application for the 3 year FBO thrown out due to inconsistencies in the process as they tried to add bits on that weren't true but what he couldn't change and couldn't deny was that they had video evidence of him singing "Murderers":

What I would add is that I don't believe chanting "Murderers" in relation to Heysel should ever be classed as a tragedy chant because, if anything, it's a reverse tragedy chant due to it not mocking those who died but those fans who perpetrated it. If people were mocking the Hillsborough or Munich dead then that's different of course but it's obvious that Miseryside Police now have a zero tolerance approach to anyone who dares remind Liverpool fans of what cunts they were at Heysel, whereas no doubt they turn a blind eye to any fucker on the Kop glorifying the amount of Mancunians that Harold Shipman murdered. After what happened to my mate there last season who got lifted for chanting "Murderers" - and who has now been banned for 3 years by City even though his lawyer drove a coach and horses through much of the prosecution's case meaning the authorities never imposed a 3 year FBO on him - I had to quietly warn a couple of ours in the away end this season that there are undercover spotters all over that end just waiting to pounce on any fan who utters that word.

how on earth can you ban someone for chanting absolute fact just because they dont want to hear it?

Great use of police time then, not like there’s grooming gangs to break is there!

It’s like Jeffrey Dahmer crying because someone reminded him what crimes he perpetrated. My viewpoint on the whole situation is don’t go to Anfield and use that chant. You are giving them what they want and playing into their hands of being offended. It’s a wet dream for them and they revel in it.

I agree but it's been a prosecutable offence since 2023 according to this. What I find odd is that while the examples in the CPS link are clearly not an exhaustive list and there will be others that could legitimately be included, how Liverpool/Liverpool fan groups have managed to get Heysel shoehorned into it is quite something else:

I agree. I think many fans are simply unaware they can be lifted for it though.....until it happens! IMO, the authorities haven't been playing exactly fair on this because I don't think the new laws around tragedy chanting have been communicated to football fans anywhere near as much as they should've been. The 2 City fans I spoke to at Anfield in December who were doing it were astonished that it's even considered an offence these days.

I would also add that if fans - be it City fans, Liverpool fans, or whoever - can be lifted for doing aeroplane signals then United fans who do it in order to goad opposition fans into doing it should also be nicked because that's disrespectful as fuck to the Munich dead too.

Where does it reference Heysel?
It doesn't. Maybe I wasn't being clear! I was trying to say that it's not an exhaustive list and there will be plenty of other examples not in the link that could be classed as tragedy chanting but it's a puzzle as to how Heysel can be one of those examples. Well, certainly not in the sense of singing it against Liverpool fans.

Salahs had alot of ‘freak’ seasons in fairness.
Only his first season compares to this though and dippers had no midfield and defence then, he has 31 goals and assists in 19 games, it's more freakish than his usually very good seasons.

Basically whatever the scousers complain about.

Its unbelievable for a inverted winger, feels like he's been ridiculously good for so many years now.
