Basing it on probability and already the quality of them players? Then being in a better squad than they have been?

Your probability estimates don't seem to factor in the fact that their captain and leader is turning 34 and their best player 33.

Frimpong, Kerkez and Wirtz are unfortunately big upgrades to an already superb team

Yes on the outside, looking in, they have strengthened fantastically well both in the players they have recruited and also strengthening in areas the teams had weaknesses.

A few things here:

Crying in turin???? sounds like tragedy chanting to me.

Scousers at an England game?? what abput scouse not english.

These are 100% woolybacks or something, not one of them have even been on walton breck rd never mind in Anfield itself.

What kind of sad **** goes to the cricket and sings football chants?

Totally agree. Whilst its great to be linked to such players and to think that FSG are willing to support Slot, there surely has to be some reality check. Too much too fast is very dangerous.
Spend spend spend and you never know if a player is going to settle, or fall off a cliff form wise.
You look at PSG as an example of that. They did nothing in Europe with all that money they spent, yet with a "cheaper" team shaved of the galacticos they have found that magic mix of ingredients to make them such an irresistible force.

I think when spending money the key is to bringing the right type of characters to the club and also players who stylistically fit into the team.

For example if you asked me which players style of play was most similar to Andy Robertson, played at left back in the Premiership I would probably say Kerkez. I think it would be more of a risk if you had bought Ait Nouri and similarly visa versa, Ait Nouri will suit our style of play better than Kerkez would. Based on that the probabilities are Kerkez will be a good match for Liverpool, plus he already has Premiership experience.

Wirtz on paper also looks a good buy. When PSG bought Neymar, Mbappe, Messi etc it was clear there was too many egos, too many players not prepared to put the hard yards in defensively and so when they faced sides of similar standing in the Champs lge, but who were prepared to put in the hard yards, have a team ethic, the results were almost inevitable. Move onto this season and you look at Real Madrid with the introduction of Mbappe and it’s not a surprise they struggled last year, relatively speaking. Vinicius, Bellingham, Mbappe etc all wanting to be the main man, it rarely works.

Wirtz from all the reports is a pretty hard working player, buys into the team ethic. Again nothing is certain in life but if you go big on a player, those factors, along with ability, are massively important. United are a prime example of a club who looked at style over substance and bought the wrong type of character from Pogba, to Martial, Anthony, Garnacho never players who will help the side. In contrast Amad Diallo probably has a lot less ability than the lot of them but he would be the player I would want in my side, as you know he will sacrifice himself for the team.

From an outsider looking in it looks like Liverpool have done some great business, and often after a title winning season you need to do that just to standstill.

£40m for Quansah ?
Fucking hell
Ten Rags spending the Wirtz money on a Liverpool cast-off and leaving his poor transfers on the rags.

Repeating as Champions is more about character than talent. Something they haven't done for 40 years. They are there to be shot at now and we'll have to wait and see how they deal with that. Their signings look good on the face of it but time will tell, just like our signings.
So true. I think they have made great signings. But winning the PL again is a different challenge. They will be under pressure from day one. I think next season will be about City and LFC again. Perhaps they will even admit we are rivals!

About as likely as finding an honest working dipper .

Dippers about to sell Quansah for £34m. Thats good money for a distinctly average at best player. Lends more credence to us selling players too cheaply. We have to be using these kind of sales as a benchmark when valuing our academy players in future.

Dippers are playing a dangerous game though, lost TAA, lost kelleher and now seemingly Quansah, that's most of their club trained players. Bradley and Elliot count as club trained along with Jones but there's talk of Elliot wanting out too. If they haven't got players on the verge of breaking in, that's going to harm their squad size and could lead to trouble if the special inhalers fail.

Scouse wit eh? You’ve had Arthur Askey, Stan Boardman and John Bishop, as funny as a terminal illness, I’m guessing you’re not even a Dipper resident just a glory hunting fan like most of your lot.
You forgot two of the great in "Tarby" & Tom O'Connor!
As for glory hunter, both my grandad and dad were season ticket holders. I suppose you could perhaps say I am a glory hunter only attending my first game in 1974.
Most certainly correct though as I haven't lived in the NW since '87

Only Mick Miller makes me laugh from that part of the world, don’t know what people see in John Bishop, he’s just not funny.
