Sick of all this net spend bollocks.
We buy players for £££ and according to the scousers we're buying the league, but the dippers spend 450 million on new players, and out comes the net card.

It's utter bullshit. Bunch of hypocrites, just admit you've done what you've spent years accusing city of instead instead of trying to dress it up as something else

I’m glad RAWK is now a Liverpool fans only membership forum.

At least I’m no longer tempted to read what the deluded and brainwashed cult have to say about City or other clubs.
I didn't realise it was a fans only membership forum.

That sounds like a "cult" if you ask me.

I am continuously being told they are favourites for the league. Dipper fans telling me we shouldn't even bother trying to catch them, it's done and dusted - the Prem and all trophies available to them, and we're still in early September! Best keeper, best defence, best midfield, best attackers etc. And my answer is: 'Good. No pressure on us then. If we finish empty-handed it's okay because we were expecting you to win everything anyway.'
The pressure is all on Slott because of the money spent, he HAS to either equal or better what we've achieved, not just this season but the next and the next.

All eyes are on you, dippers. All eyes.

The thing with net spend is sell a player for £10m and thats a credit on net spend ignoring the fact that very same player was bought 4 years earlier for £8m

Couple of LFC examples
Diaz sold for £60m but cost £39m
Nunez sold for £46m but cost £64m

Their net is £3m

Sometimes book value is used ie the amortized value even this is bollocks though

What’s happened to the favourite media phrase “splash the cash” or is that just used when we spend “big” ?
Yes. Those derogatory remarks and cutting phrases are reserved just for us, unfortunately.

I, like many Blues on this forum, would have watched the summer transfer window unfold with a mixture of disbelief and annoyance.

It's difficult not to compare your own club with other prominent clubs, while comparing and contrasting the media's take on each.

The silence from the British media and the broadcasting outlets was deafening regarding Liverpool's part in the Isak saga. All the criticism was directed at the player, with not a hint of blame laid at the door of Liverpool.

I wonder if the media would have been so forgiving, if the club Isak was agitating a move for was MCFC?

The money spent this summer by Liverpool would have been described as "obscene" if it were MCFC spending it. Instead, the media treated their audiences to a wonderful display of financial gymnastics in the hope of simultaneously placating and gaslighting them.

£444M is £444M no matter how many ways you try and spin it.

I would have more respect for Liverpool and their client hacks in the media, if instead of denying their colossal investment over the summer, they embrace it and admit that this is a necessary evil in the modern game.

Just hope Isak goes on strike on 2028 to get his ‘dream move’ to Madrid just watch how that is portrayed. I suspect it’ll be somewhat different to his refusal to play for Newcastle.

As a slight side issue, if a player refuses to play, the club should be well within its rights to stop paying him.

Yes, and with all those eyes comes a whole world of pressure.

I'm convinced that Slot has fallen into a false sense of security after last season.

He genuinely believes that the league was competitive and difficult.

This season could be a rude awakening for Slot. Liverpool are the champions and therefore, the team to beat. Add to that the significant investment they've made to his squad, anything less than a double will be regarded as abject failure.*

The other problem Slot has got this season, is that the media have completely written off MCFC.

This may or may not come back to bite them on their arse. However, if Pep takes it as a personal affront and our players do eventually click then the pressure will build on Slot and his Liverpool players.

*but not by the media.

Let them believe that the league is done! They believed that when Klopp was in charge too. They had the bestest everything then too! We all saw what happened then.

The beauty of football is that it never works the way it is supposed to on paper. You never know what happens in one game, let alone an entire league season. They are the favourites but I personally will only down tools when it is mathematically impossible for us to catch them!!

You expecting the media and dippers to accept that they are hypocrites ?

Good luck with that !

No. Not at all.

However, I do expect them to at least acknowledge it.

By trying to distance themselves from what has been a British record transfer window, from a premier league football club, is, in my opinion, the epitome of hypocrisy.

The pressure is on the scouse right now, I suspect slot could be flakey as fuck given a few bad results, he's already complaining about long ball teams playing them.

Next he'll be complaining that teams score too many against them and it isn't fair.
You might joke about that mexico 1970, but you'll be surprised what pressure can do to some people.

Slot has had the best possible introduction to the premier league, than anyone could have ever imagined.

He won the title in his first season, with very little competition. He has been lauded by the British media and backed to the hilt by his board.

Fenway Sports Group have literally broke the bank* to fund Slot's glittering squad. They haven't made that kind of investment to finish runners-up in the league or to go far in the cup competitions.

They'll want significant results from Slot this season. As you say, it might only take a couple of poor results before the pressure builds and those pesky doubts start to creep in.

Who knows how Slot and his players will cope with that. The other dynamic that Liverpool will have to contend with this season, is the complete dismissal of MCFC's ability to compete for the title.

I know we've had a poor start to the season, and nobody knows how things will pan out. However, I've got a sneaking suspicion that Pep will take umbrage to the fact that we've been written off.

In my humble opinion, MCFC is arguably the most dangerous football club in the premier league to operate under the radar.

*although, we'll not hear that from the media.

The spotlight is on them and they haven't set the league on fire this season ( Scratching wins is still valid though) as you say when that slump happens he'll melt like a good 'un mate.

Well I am sure there would be repercusions after deadline day. I assume they have to train and make themselves available for selection on matchdays when fit. Should a player fail to do this I am sure they would be in breach of contract. If Newcastle had named him as a starting player and he either failed to turn up or refused to tog out I doubt he would get paid. Clearly it would not be in the clubs interest to allow this happen. Now if the bar codes were not restricted by the financial rules of the PL they could have signed the strikers they needed and let him rot in the reserves. But when you think about it this is not a great option either and he would probably be moved on in January anyway. One thing is certain this boy is in for a rough ride next time he visits Newcastle.
