You might joke about that mexico 1970, but you'll be surprised what pressure can do to some people.

Slot has had the best possible introduction to the premier league, than anyone could have ever imagined.

He won the title in his first season, with very little competition. He has been lauded by the British media and backed to the hilt by his board.

Fenway Sports Group have literally broke the bank* to fund Slot's glittering squad. They haven't made that kind of investment to finish runners-up in the league or to go far in the cup competitions.

They'll want significant results from Slot this season. As you say, it might only take a couple of poor results before the pressure builds and those pesky doubts start to creep in.

Who knows how Slot and his players will cope with that. The other dynamic that Liverpool will have to contend with this season, is the complete dismissal of MCFC's ability to compete for the title.

I know we've had a poor start to the season, and nobody knows how things will pan out. However, I've got a sneaking suspicion that Pep will take umbrage to the fact that we've been written off.

In my humble opinion, MCFC is arguably the most dangerous football club in the premier league to operate under the radar.

*although, we'll not hear that from the media.
If Pep manages to win the league this season it will be his biggest ever achievement by far. However, I would consider the chances slim to impossible. It will be an acievement to finish 3rd again and with the aid of a big summer window challenge in 26/27.

I'm not saying that Pep will win the league this season. I'm saying that the total dismissal from the media for him to even compete for it, could work to our advantage.

There's probably about as much expectancy for Pep to win the league this season, as there was for Slot to win it last season. Yet, won he did.

Football is a very unpredictable sport and who knows how things pan out?

What I do know, is that if things started to click for Pep and his players and they were to find some decent form and self-belief they could make things very uncomfortable for Slot.

I’m glad RAWK is now a Liverpool fans only membership forum.

At least I’m no longer tempted to read what the deluded and brainwashed cult have to say about City or other clubs.
Apparently the application includes proof of two the following: a photo of them with a used car radio, copy on unemployment cheque and their victim card ID number.

I'm nervous about playing City at the best of times. When City are underdogs? Screw that! Regardless of what has happened before City still have players that can bury you in a second. City away still remains my most feared fixture in the PL (then Newcastle away, then Dippers away)

Plus a copy medical certificate giving the date of the lobotomy.

Add to that, the players' that your club have now got at your disposal. There's a lot more competition for Slot to contend with this season.

Don't get me wrong, I'm neither arrogant or naive enough to think that MCFC have a devine right to win anything. However, my hope for this season is that Slot is at least, made to work for it this time around.

All the pressure is on Liverpool after spending half a billion euros on new players. That's fine by me. They've broken the PL transfer record twice. There are questions that are not being asked right now...
Will the new signings settle in?
Is Slott going to be able to rotate all his attacking players and keep them happy?
Is Liverpool's defence good enough?
Will Salah and VVD avoid long term injuries?
Is VVD in decline?
Will Slott stay calm under the pressure?

There is much euphoria about Liverpool, but past performance is not an indicator of future performance. People are rightly excited for them right now, but let's see where things are come December. Not saying we are a threat for the title right now, but if things start to click for City we will all no doubt be retracting what we've been saying about City after recent defeats.

It's a funny old game. Come on City!

The fkrs winning their first 3 and now Isak.
Means they just need 30 wins and a draw from 35 to get 100pts
I really hope they ain’t set up to equal the 4 in a row now

More of a pressing issue is that we're already 6 points behind them; they won't drop many points, and we rarely beat them - especially away.

Even at this very early stage of the season, we'd need to go unbeaten from now on and take points off them in the process in order to finish above them. Sadly, I can't see that happening.

Scum next up. Recent history ain't that good. If we don't win that one, only Arsenal can catch them, imho.

Littlewoods' record at Etihad isn’t great.

Or didn’t you noticed that, while you were wetting your knickers?

The great City teams of the Pep era so far are making way for new players. I don't think the rebuild is complete yet and we won't see the best of City this season. I accept this because I don't think we can expect to win every season and I think we, those of us who have been lucky enough to have witnessed the last ten years, should simply be thankful for having ten years the like of which most clubs can't even dream of. But if anyone can build another team to be proud of it's you know who.

Some would say it would be karma if isak suffered a season ending injury while away on international duty I obviously wouldn’t say that though of course.

They have one clean sheet and have conceded two goals in their other two games. That's the exact same defensive record as us. The difference being, of course, that they managed to score 4 and 3 goals respectively in the games where they conceded twice

They're also conceding the same kind of goals that we do. Bournemouth shredded them on the break, they looked exactly like we have countless times over the last year or so

That Arsenal looked at that Liverpool defence and decided to try and grind out a dull 0-0 instead of going at them speaks volumes about Arteta as a manager, but that's probably a different discussion
