This guy is literally paid to run up and down the line and check for offside. He's in the perfect position to see the player well offside. He doesn't flag. Why?

The linesman is meant to be alongside the last defender not in front of the defender.

In fairness you can see Wirtz is a superb little footballer. He’d have been so much better suited to our game and Pep’s coaching.

their next 3 games: Internazionale away in CL which is likely a loss. then Brighton at home which is tricky and then Tottenham away. can easily be another winless streak.

The most crap excuse I’ve ever heard. He clearly went there because there was every opportunity that he would be the main man for Liverpool with Salah and VVD getting older. We already had Foden and Haaland to do that for us.
Not to mention that Slot has played him everywhere but striker in that attacking line so clearly his plan for him wasn’t that detailed.

Van Dijk has been appalling, yet isn’t called out by the media and starts every game. Quite different for Salah at the moment. The narrative with Salah is clearly engineered from the club, and they have form for it.

The position of the defenders is irrelevant as to whether he's offside or not. It's the position of the ball, from that angle you can't be certain if he's behind or in front of the ball, but he may well be on side.

You can’t tell from the photos unless taken directly parallel. I assume var decided the goal scorer was behind the ball when it was played forward.
