Liverpool v City - post match thread

I seriously don't understand these sorts of posts.

15 years ago we'd have considered being level on points with Leeds a success. Last season we would have considered being level on points with Chelsea a success. In the 80s we'd have considered being level on points with either of the bin dippers a success.

Personally, I don't think classing ourselves as being level with a side who have had a piss poor season as a success but each to their own.

What I'm saying is - at least we ain't losing every game and we are still in the Chumps League qualifiers (somehow)
It's been shit travelling down to White hart lane, Anfield and so on and getting spanked... But like I said - they are lessons.
The victories will be even more sweet.

if you can't take the rough with the smooth then fuck off and watch Harlem Globetrotters or someshit.

He said he'd rather miss out on a top half finish than do his job properly.
Do you think he played willy to spite us but it backfired on him. It's like he nobbled us tonight. I'm starting to think he's batshit crazy !

For me that wasn't just a bad performance, that was a total capitulation. Shambles. Like Chelsea under Mourinho this season.

I suspect a lot of these players know they won't be here next season and have thrown the towel in. They wanted their one last hurrah by winning a trophy on Sunday before they leave, but that's their season done now. I'm almost certain Silva knows he's going, his performances since the Guardiola announcement have been shocking. Do you think somebody like Bony, for example, really cares if we get top four if he knows he won't be here next season?

Our top four place is in huge danger and I'm not convinced we'll make top four under Pellegrini - it's that bad. We should be throwing all the money we can at Ancelotti to take over until the end of the season.

only positive................Aquero basically had a rest tonight ?

Every team will be stronger next season. I don't see Pep's arrival will automatically make everything right. We've got it all on to finish top 4 next season. I'm 50/50 that we'll finish behind Chelsea and the Rags this.

Liverpool are cheats. Fancy playing tactics. Every time we had the ball they tried to get it straight back off us before we even had time to under hit our pass across the pitch. At least we were polite enough to let then have space when they had it, after all we were guests. And at least we stuck to our usual gentle out swinging corners. Proper football. Most teams play inswingers against them due to their zonal marking but that would involve us changing our ideas based upon the opposition. Not for our Manuel

Very disappointing that the players did not have the right frame of mind for this game and got punished heavily for it. This really does not look good but at least Arsenal and Totenham lost and all the teams competing for the title will drop points. The point is that no one knows what will happen between now and the end of the season.

Our horrible tough luck with injuries has to be defeated though- that is a real problem. Not only the injuries but the timing of it. I remember earlier this year when things were beginning to turn a bit, Kompany came on and got injured immediately and we then went on a horrible run afterwards. The same now. Pellegrini had stumbled on an improvised system of Yaya and Fernando in the middle with Fernandinho as a pseudo right sided midfielder and it worked against Kiev and Liverpool in the cup and then Yaya got injured. So the injury issue has to be sorted out.

But today I think the downfall was because the players' frame of mind was terrible against a Liverpool team that looks average on paper and all they had to do is show effort and focus and they ran us out of anfield. We have to get back to winning ways against Aston Villa.

Why take Clichy off? - stupid. If he wanted Kolorov to give us an attacking threat he should have taken Aguero off - and put itchy up front or just behind Bony.
We got stuffed tonight.
