I'm reading these posts and bar the odd response every seems to be skint, yeah? What all the workers should do is unite together and form some sort of group to take on these issues to put forward to those in charge/power/bosses and ask for a living wage.
We tried that it was called a union, sadly Mrs T shut the vast majority of skilled manufacturing down and its very difficult for a shop assistant or burger flipper to worry a Government.

We don't need unions in this country anymore.

I read it on here the other month.

Unions really are a waste of time for most workers now aren't they?

If you work for a large company or some public service but the little man/woman doesn't get any support even from members if they don't work for the same company.

The death of the unions coincided with the "It's all about me" brigades rise.

And that attitude fucked the working man...................... "The Man" has won......... we are divided and conquered and blame our financial woes on the unemployed, the sick, immigrants anything " He" tells us we should despise whilst "He" creams it off the top and does us all up the arse

And yes I live month to month as my " good job " with a " good salary " has been eroded by my " good employer" who provides a " great place to work " pays me less and less year on year in real terms

When the vast majority of us had sod all in our fathers or Grandfathers day the unions worked pretty well and gave us a better standard of living after all if you've got nowt anyway what do you have to lose by going on strike. Once we got ourselves a bit of money and a house then the whole ball game changes and you're not so keen on being the local rebel.

I completely agree.

As soon as 'Aspiration' reared it's ugly head and workers didn't want to jeopardise their own standard of living for the benefit of a downtrodden worker the writing was on the wall.

I get paid every 2 weeks here in oz and seem to save a lot more than I did getting paid monthly in the uk, 2 weekly seems the norm here at least in WA.

It's another debate. Probably for another day.

But my answer would be, no.
