Liz Truss

It appears that the BBC may have underestimated the amount of rope that she'd use up.
I can't see that the interview in any way helps Truss.

Why on earth is this stupid cow being given air time.

Chris Mason allowing her to plug her mental “book” and bang on about how a Trump comeback would be a good thing on the sodding BBC!

I get that GB News and the other fruitcakes would have her on but what the hell is the BBC playing at giving the nutter a platform.

Can think of three possible reasons...

There's possibly some bollocks about not 'no platforming' a former prime minister of the country; despite the fact that she should never have been within a million miles of the job.

There's sufficient tufton street accolytes still knocking around the gaff to influence editorial decisions.

They're confusing news with Victorian light entertainment, look at the crazed freak.

None of these would seem to be valid reasons to give her the oxygen of publicity. Her only appearances in British political life should be on posters campaigning for electoral reform.

I’m strongly of the opinion that the various post-prime ministerial perks should only apply if you actually led your party through an election.

Today programme gave a run-through of all the mad ideas: sack the BoE, sack the OBR, leave ECHR, leave UN, support Trump, get a leader of another party into the Tory Party, and concluded wondering what might happen if someone with those views ever got into a position of power.

Better still change the system so we don't have nutters ascending to such heights!

I think the annual 'office' payment was only brought in at the end of Thatcher's time in office; presumably as a way to salve their consciences for stabbing her in the back. It's supposedly for "necessary office costs and secretarial costs arising from their special position in public life". Hard to see what special position in public life Truss holds going forward other than in chapters of history books as a salutary tale.

In fairness a number of perks, like the PM special pension, have been binned off in recent years. I don't begrudge any of them, including even Truss, some additional security support in circumstances where it's appropriate but beyond that I don't see the need. It's not like getting a bit of state cash is going to stop them from grubbing money from other sources that might then compromise their "special position in public life".

The thing is normally/infact probably historically unless through ill health that would always be the case, until these fuckers got in.

This woman represents a particularly vile strand of RW thinking.

I've just seen a statistic, CEO pay against the average worker in their business:

Japan 11:1
Germany 12:1
UK: 22:1
USA: 475:1

There's a reason why these people want us to be more like America and less like mainland Europe. Greed, avarice, selfishness - call it what you will - but it's dressed as a political 'philosophy' and people without a pot to piss in mindlessly support it. Such is the power of propaganda.

By the way, Adam Smith, that well-known socialist, advised a ratio of 10:1. But the so-called Adam Smith Institute, which picks out the bits it likes from his work, will not tell you that.
