Loaning players to Celtic

Regular playing time in a team who are used to winning so the pressure to perform in order to keep your place will be the same if they ever make the leap into the City squad.
Apart from that I'm not sure.

The only Scottish team worth playing against is Celtic - the rest of the league is a frankly very low standard. Roberts would be stretched more playing in league one.

Did Denayer wonders. European football too.

Yeah, also, there is also the fact they can get regular playing time in a team who are used to winning so the pressure to perform in order to keep your place will be the same if they ever make the leap into the City squad.

Playing for Celtic comes with a degree of pressure and expectation that cannot be experienced in the Championship. At the same time, players will experience Champions League and European League football, which can only stand them in good stead.

Just you, I loved watching denayer there last season and am looking forward to Roberts getting the same exposure. It's a decent step towards senior football, they have som big crowds and an expectation to win every game, that is a level of pressure that our eds kids have to get used to.

Plus a wee lad like Roberts will get used to having his ankles kicked tae fuck.

Really? Heading away 1 desperately hoofed clearance every 20 minutes compared to maybe playing for Nice or St Etienne, facing up to teams.who pass and move?

It was his first senior football. Couldn't have been more ideal.

Won't find many clubs in Ligue 1 or the Bundesliga happy to blood in a 18 year old right into their starting XI, and play them regularly.

Celtic fans are happy with it and this fella makes a very good point about the way they handled Denayer and Guidetti.
Man City are clearly happy with the way we handled Gudetti and Denayer and this could be a very fruitful relationship for us for seasons to come. Let's face it, with the current Sky deal, we cannot compete with Championship clubs let alone EPL clubs in the transfer market, so if this link up with City continues, we could have the temporary use of players we could never afford in the current climate.

Another point which shouldn't be overlooked is that any of our players going on loan to Celtic will be almost guaranteed to win silverware and get champs league experience.
When you start to look at it closely it makes perfect sense for both clubs.

It could, and should, prove a very fruitful relationship for both clubs - in the absence of top flight clubs' reserves/B teams being allowed to play in the Championship a la La Liga, as I know Txiki is keen on given its vast benefits for young academy players.

Me thinks those with objections could be sectarian oddballs with a hard on for Rangers.

The relationship seems to hinge on Deila, as we've only sent players there since he arrived at Celtic Park, and his tenure is a matter of intense speculation. We seem to respect his ability to foster developing players, but a new manager may have a less compatible philosophy.

That's a good point, Deila was at Stromgodset where we sent a few youngsters on loan in previous years so we must have formed a good opinion on his handling of young players.

At Celtic the kids are going to learn how to play for a dominant team, how to break down packed defences and how to deal with the expectation of being expected to win every game. No idea why we'd want to loan him to someone like Sunderland, so he can learn the importance of scrapping, tracking fullbacks all game, camping in his own half and maybe taking a corner or two. Celtic is at a lower level, but it's a lot more relevant experience for the players, especially an attacking player like Roberts.

I think its an excellent idea to loan him to Celtic and for 18 months. This time next year we should know if he has a future at City. Hope he does.
