Local Elections 2023

The leader of the Labour group in Liverpool was expelled by Starmer

He stood as an independent and got 77% of the vote.

They've got 2 years to clean it up.

I'm not a fan of the yellow Tories looking the current results they should go balls out for Vote Lib Dem to put corrupt Tories GE campaign in constituencies they nearly won in last time.
Tactical voting in blue wall areas will bring this appalling government down . It is working beautifully now and hopefully the GE next year .

I've not heard anybody on Sky or BBC mention it (to be expected)... but this is a local election where people are generally concerned with local issues and so are more comfortable voting for the smaller parties, mainly Lib Dem and Greens. Around me the Greens are getting vote shares in some wards of 30%+ in deep Tory country and despite that the Labour voteshare is still holding up. I voted Green, but I'm not going to be voting for them at the General.

If I were the Tories, I wouldn't be looking at Labour's vote share. I would be looking nervously at the left wing parties accruing a collective vote share of nearly 65%+. Because those are much more likely to stack on Labour at a general election. If they do then they are beyond fucked. Even if the vote share stayed as it is in these results, they'd still be fucked. But we know they won't, which tells me they are probably mega fucked if this result is replicated next year.

But of course the Tories expected to be total fucking shit and lose thousands of seats so I guess that makes it okay then? That seems to be the party line.
Thrasher the guy on SKY who is a whizz on political voting trends / share thinks the same as you …….. the Tories are well and truly fucked !!!

Today’s quiz question.
Whatever happened to brexit?
The tories swept to an 80seat majority on the back of it.
It was going to solve all our problems and make us great politically, socially and economically.
Remember all that stuff?
Now they can’t even mention its name.
They claimed ownership of its design (?) and implementation and now The wee bastard is running around causing chaos and not one - and I hold Labour to account in this too - is taking any responsibility.
Barely a mention all night and all day of it.
The biggest most incontinent elephant-in-the-room ever seen and no-one says a word.
Agree. But I think labour are playing it well. Tories would love to attack Labour over brexit, they can't and just shows how vacuous they are. They have nothing but 'stop the boats'.

In the absence of political rabble rousing and BS debate the public opinion of brext is sinking like a rock. Labour will at some point have to wrestle with rejoining but its for another day.

I suspect a GE will produce somewhat different results. It's a way off yet but if I had to make a prediction, it would be a hung parliament with Labour being the largest party. I just don't see them getting an overall majority. I could live with that.

With more results coming in SKY polling expert now saying Labour heading for clear majority territory for next GE .
