If he fancies going up to a merc long wheelbase he could get work off the airport. Circle express and s3 are two companies I used to sub for, decent payers too.

I was always just on the books mate, but the firm I was at had a company that offered special rates for owner drivers so they are definitely out there.

Also buying a shit heap won't do the job as I am sure they have to be vans less than 3yo for reliability issues.

As Stony says it isn't an easy game to be in, people think it is a piece of piss to do but after week realise it is a damned sight harder than they thought.

I have delivery knowledge from the most southern point in Scotland all the way down to Barrow in Furness, taking in a little bit of Blackpool and out towards Newcastle, that is about 58 different routes lodged in my brain lol
