Long weekend in Istanbul at end of May - Turkey on Govt Red List

The more I think about it, the less appealing it is to me. I want to be at a champions league final with 20k+ City fans roaming a European city. Having a minimal amount of fans there and with the possibility of a lot of the bars and restaurants to be closed, I’d rather just have a blow out in Manchester.

System is to be reviewed every 3 weeks from the initial announcement tomorrow, not from 17th.
2 weeks from tomorrow is 28th, the Friday before the final.

Not sure where you're getting the info from, it could turn out to be correct, but someone who is quite reliable on Twitter thinks light reviews will be every 2 weeks (with travellers given an extra week to get home).
I've also heard/read about this from other sources stating it will be a fortnightly review system, but they are tagging on this extra week to help avoid the mad scramble seen so many times last summer.

Guess all will be revealed tomorrow....

In both scenarios, the salient point remains - if it's amber tomorrow then that's what everyone who wants to go will have to take into account.

I suspect the vast majority of blues will come to the same decision when the details are released

The detail is largely irrelevant anyway as Turkey is 99% certainty of going into amber and that won't change before the final unfortunately.

I tip my hat to anyone who gets there....I've not ruled it out completely but it's such a fucking ballache with testing/isolation etc and I can't work from home so it's looking highly unlikely for me.

It's arguably the greatest undertaking to attend a game that we will ever experience. I think 4,000 tickets will be hard to shift.

The cost of flights, hotels, airport parking, taxis, food/drink, match ticket and Covid tests is one thing. The requirement to self-isolate on return for 5 or even 10 days is another.

I got the sleeper train from Istanbul to Sofia when England played there last year. Decent route as flights to Sofia are very cheap but no idea if trains are still running with the pandemic.

I’m going away on the Thursday after the final for 4 nights which would cross over with any isolating so I’m buggered

it’s one thing going to Istanbul for a couple of nights and spending a small fortune. It’s another thing telling the missus and kids that their holiday is cancelled because of it.. FFS!!!
