Longest Span of Success - May shock rival fans!

Yes, that's included in the Wembley stat - 1920s: 1926; 1930s: 1933 & 1934; 1940s: war on and our regional finals were not at Wembley; 1950s: 1955 & 1956; 1960s: 1969: 1970s: 1970, 74 & 76: 1980s: 1981 (x2) & 1986; 1990s: 1999. Of course, MUFC didn't play at Wembley pre WW2 for anyone wondering.
Everyone's chances of playing at Wembley in the 00s was reduced by 50% due to the reconstruction, so we COULD say we have played at Wembley in every decade since it was built apart from decades where there was disruption due to war, reconstruction, famine, pestilence etc.. in that decade.

We have won 4 league cups .
Arsenal only have 2 league cups .
And Everton have never won the league cup .
Making history all the time Manchester City .
This beats the years we had Peter Swales being the chairman .
Someone once said to me - all we need to do is win the Champions League 4 times and we will have eclipsed Utd! Okay not in total trophies but in the modern Europe is all that matters work. So... Next 4 years it is then!

Oh dear Gary, I Thought you were better than that. You have misunderstood what history means. That stat goes further back than history ever should. Aside from a very unfortunate event in 1958 and a cup win in 1968, real football history only started in 1993. Then again, at the other end of the East Lancs road, real history started somewhat earlier, in the 1970's. For Arsenal it was the 1930's. It's all very confusing this history thing. I'm just glad we don't have any!!!

I mentioned 99, because bluesincehyderoad said in previous post that we didn't go to Wembley in the 90's. Perhaps he meant the 00's

Point taken - I haven't forgotten about our relaxing afternoon's party with Gillingham in 1999 and none of us ever will! It was rather a careless turn of phrase. The book I was referring to was talking of competing in the final for major trophies and that City fans have seen their club contest at least one major trophy every decade in which there hasn't been a suspension of the tournaments due to a world war. It's right to say that we have been to Wembley for a major cup final in every such decade since it opened, but our first FA cup success was some 20 years before Wembley opened. It's also true to recall that our club turned down a parade through the city in 1999 because it had won a play off it should never have been involved in.

Yesterday was our 18th major honour. 8th most in England. Everton, villa and Spurs have all won 24. Quite possible we will win 6 more trophies than all then in the next ten years.

That's using the Wiki criteria that includes Charity/Community Shields (some shared), Inter Toto Cups and European Super Cups. I wouldn't include any of them as major honours. If we limit it to the 3 major domestic honours and the 3 major European titles (in their various forms) we remain 8th with 14 honours. Everton have 15, Spurs 17 and Villa 20. Hopefully we should pass Everton and maybe Spurs in the next 5 years. Villa is a bit of a stretch but with Pep coming and them unlikely to win anything in that timeframe we could conceivably rise to 5th.
