18 years ago today I started in a dream job at Historic Royal Palaces on IT Helpdesk based at Hampton court palace but also covering Tower of London, Kensington palace, Kew palace, Banqueting house (in Whitehall) and Hillsborough castle in Northern Ireland.

This is now the longest I've been in a job. Previous longest was working 12 hour shifts on a production line in factory making multi layer ceramic capacitors for anything and everything electrical

My job had changed from one I absolutely loved and was passionate about until COVID. We made 450 redundant, all my friends left and now I don't like going to work. I'm 63 (almost 64) and not sure I'll be there much longer

What's longest time you've ever been in one job

Just logged on and this year I passed 31 years with this company, where I’ve had various roles.

22 Years for me. Various roles and promotions.

Funny, they've just said to us that we can buy an additional 3 days per year annual leave.
Now, they dont cover me as im salaried and so there is no cost associated with it.

After 22 years I questioned why they couldnt reward me with an additional 3 days like a lot of companies do. Maybe 10, 15 and 20 years service etc.

They said no. Im just ranting. lol! I am very well paid so I shouldn't moan.

12 years at cellnet/btmobile/o2, incredible time like being in the middle of an industrial revolution. Started with pagers then phones like bricks .
Outsourcing eventuality ripped the soul out of an enjoyable workplace.

Still working but miss the banter, genuine shared experiences of old workplaces.

8 years in this one. Cloud engineering. 8 years in my previous one doing sales support. Learnt so much in those last 16 years. Mainly how shit and useless sales teams and BDMs are.

16 years in January, have done a couple of 7 years previously but think this time I just couldn't be bothered looking and then COVID etc.

Irony is, staying with one company is generally bad for salary. We're constantly hiring in people with less experience in the same or more money than the people who been here years. Once you're in, you're on the 3% a year raise you're supposed to be grateful for, so the only way to make a real difference is to move to a competitor.

I remember you getting me tickets for the Tower of London and the Ceremony of the Keys some years back when I was taking my ex to London. An absolutely amazing gesture that I haven't forgotten.

I've been at our place for over 25 years. There's a long service award for 5, 10, 20 and 25 years (don't know why 15 is missed out). My start date is 6 days after the cut off point so I missed out this year and will have cleared 26 by the time I get my reward.

Been at same company 23 years since I was 17, just been informed I won’t be getting a end of year bonus (first time ever) and starting to feel pushed out.

10 years. Current company I've been with for 3 and a half now. Would have stayed at the previous one for longer than 10 if it hadn't gone to shit.

First time you haven't had a bonus in 23 years?! That's good going! Surely it's based on performance of the company/yourself more than a personal slight.

Our specific department made a loss so we was told no year end bonus. It’s a bit shit to be honest as I’m not in control of income/profit like my colleagues on the desk- believe all other departments in my same role are getting end of year bonus.

I've been there a number of times over the years. My bonuses have almost always been based on the performance of the company in particular PBT but my role requires spending a lot of money to fund the following year's business so it's at odds with what I do.

I learned long ago to make sure my annual salary was better! Guaranteed earnings and now I care a lot less about bonuses. But I can see why you'd be put out if you've always had one before. Particularly if it gets paid out this time of year!
