Looking to buy a dog but not having much luck.Ideas please.

We`ve had dogs all our life but its been 2 years ago since we had to have our 14 year old put down and we decided we would not bother again.
However both myself and wife have had a change of heart and decided to have another one.
WOW not as easy as we thought it would have been.We only want a small one (possibly a terrier type) but we`ve scanned the web site all over the North West and Stoke areas, mostly on Rescue Centres and can find naff all.
We don`t mind paying a bit (looked at one from Bulgaria but they can piss of with £575).
Anyone got any decent suggestions please or does anyone know of anyone who may have a smaller dog for sale but preferably not older than 3 years old).
Much appreciated
Mr & Mrs Oakiecokie.
Try Windyways in Buxton website shows current animals.

We got Zikos, our Greek rescue, two years ago from a couple in Didsbury. They have a website and a FB page: 'Nancy's Rescued and Wagging Tails'. They have a great relationship with the three rescue centre's they deal with in Greece and, as such, are able to get a good assessment of the dogs before they bring them over. They are extremely focused on matching the right dog to the right home and so the process is detailed but, unlike our impression of other rescue centre's, very personal and instilled confidence in us that they really cared. The dogs are still 'rescue dogs' and will generally have some minor issues but you're obviously an experienced dog owner which is one of the things Nancy looks for. Two years ago the cost was £270 transport plus a £20 donation to the rescue centre. Tomorrow is Zikos's 2nd Gotcha Day and we're still not sure who rescued who! Good luck with your search.

Living quite close by we used to go there regularly as kids to look at the one-eyed cats and 3 legged dogs - and they were the pretty ones, there really were some sights. Looks like it's upped its game somewhat. I'll keep that one in mind as we're looking at the moment.

Pat Phoenix (Elsie Tanner) used to be the celebrity patron back in the day. Lovely woman but forever surrounded in cigarette smoke.
I live 10 minutes away by car , they do a great job there. I think Gemma Atkinson is the celebrity patron now.
They have a fundraising day which is very good with dog shows, stalls and games etc and they are always looking for volunteers for dog walkers

Stoke? Are you happy to take a hound with six or seven toes on each paw?

We’ve got two cockapoos and love them to bits. Great dogs and get on with everyone and other dogs. If you are buying private though the costs have risen stupidly during COVID for a pup
Proper good family dogs those. If you’re after a smaller one @oakiecokie have a look at a Cavapoo as they’re a Cavalier spaniel and poodle cross and they’re a bit smaller.
