No they haven't, Watson.
They have said they are looking for candidates to replace Jacob, not the black smoke.
Ok. So, its about time there was an episode about Jin and Sun. However, how are they not married? They are married ON the Island, and they were getting married when Jacob went to see them!
How far must had it gone back if they're not married?
Also, i knew it would be Desmond at the end, but what can he do to protect the island? Unless he has to push a button every 108 minutes again.

Its a differnet timeline, everything in the flash sideways is a differnet timeline... probably split from the original in 1977 when the bomb exploded, or possibly, its an alternate reality created by MiB and were seeing what 'could happen' if he gets off the island and grants the Losties thier wishes.
As for Desmond, Eloise has always said he was special, remember the episode with the person with red shoes dieing and talk about course correcting etc
